Chapter 5 - Training

FLASHBACK

My father was sitting in the library reading something when I ran towards him," Daddy, what are you doing? " I asked him. he looked down at me, pulling me into his lap he said " reading about werewolves honey bun, you know Daddy is a doctor right and in order to help mommy and her pack daddy needs to learn more about them". 

I looked up at him bewildered " woohoo !!!! daddy you are so smart." he smiled at me showing me a picture of werewolf anatomy he drew in his journal and said, " did you know pressing this point below the ear can make any werewolf motionless for few seconds ".

"Let's go and try this on mommy," I said widening my eyes with curiosity. Dad started laughing, leaning in he kissed my forehead and said " my curious muchkin".

PRESENT 

I got up panting to realize it was just a dream, rather I can say it was a memory of what I shared with my father.

 I saw the digital clock next to me, it displayed 5: 30 am, I got off the bed and walked towards the bathroom to get ready as we were supposed to meet at 6: 30 on the field.

 I took a hot shower thinking about the writings on the wall in the pictures " what can it be" it was difficult to understand as it was an ancient language, I presumed. 

I turned off the shower and came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my body, rubbing my hair dry with another towel. 

Walking towards my bed passing the balcony door in order to get the outfit that I took out for training, my eyes were caught by Sam running on the tracks, wearing nothing but track shorts and running shoes. I was gazing over his masculine body and chiseled chest.

 I should not do this, I hate him, he had made me cry over things that belonged to me.

PAST

" Stop it and give it back to me, I ran towards him to get my diary. He tried to run away but then I saw him fall over with my diary been thrown away into the lake beside us. 

I ran towards it but the diary was completely submerged in water. I got down into the water picked it up and ran through the pages in a hurry but I could see some of the texts were gone due to the diary being soaked in water.

"I miss you, daddy," I said this in a low whisper, clutching that diary close to my heart.

" ho.." before he could finish his sentence I turned towards him, punched his face hard and ran off to avoid him looking into my teary eyes.

PRESENT

I came out of the thoughts still disturbed by the fact that he was my mate. shrugging my thoughts I went towards my bed to get ready, I was wearing a black tank top, gym pants and sports shoes with my hair tied into a high ponytail. I ran down the steps towards the field.

Everyone had gathered around by that time. I saw sam walking towards us. He was not bare-chested, he was wearing a v neck black t-shirt.

" We are here for a special purpose ...." said sam with a concerned look on his face ".... as you all know about the increase in the ghost killings in last 2 months, we need to put these things to an end and for the good of our people we need to work together and figure out who is exactly behind these killings and what is driving him" he said taking a pause , he turned towards me and said " we will need a formal introduction towards each other ", he had blue eyes .

I moved forward in order to introduce my team " this is my team, the elite squad of the grey wolf pack, we are six people all with different skills and special talent, let me introduce you to them ", I shifted my gaze to Sam who was looking at me intently.

" This is Jasper he is our strategist and the strongest wolf of our pack, he skills in hand combat and since we are a little unconventional in our approach, he takes care of the planning part".

" This is Cara, she is software geek of our team, till now we have not encountered any system or setting she cannot breach".

" This is Lucas, he is the medical expert of our team, you can say he takes care of both living and dead as he is very skilled in forensic science too".

" This is Ramona, she's our sniper and the weapon expert, she never has to take two shots to kill anyone and holds one of the best warrior record in our pack,".

" And at last this is Alex, he is the tracker of our group, there is nothing he cannot track if he loses it, that means your luck is at stake finding that thing," I said proudly introducing my team to sam and his fellow members.

 " And you?" I heard sam saying and turned towards him 

" how come you are their leader when you are just a human" I could see the curiosity in his eyes but also felt the anger building in my stomach ' is he questioning my capabilities' I thought but before I could say anything Jasper came forward and said " she is the most feist assassin we have on our team, and besides that her skills are a little difficult to list down, you will see as we work together".

I looked at Jasper with a smile and signaled him to tone it down a bit.

" I am a hybrid Sam, I am a lot stronger than you think, I can take you down right now if you want me to," I said turning towards Sam with an annoyed expression.

" Let me introduce you to my team members then," he said cutting the conversation, I guess he understood the annoyance in my tone.

" This is Adam, he is our strategist ", This is William, our tracker"," this is Max he is the best we have in hand combat". " and I am Sam, their leader and future Alpha for the blood moon Pack". 

pfff, I puffed at what he said but immediately regretted doing that as everyone was looking at me.

" Why didn't we get fancy introductions like them" Max sighed and everyone around him laughed, " Maybe you have just got a boring Alpha," Japer said winking at him but I heard Sam growl in the background, 'cant he for once take things lightly' i thought.

" We should run, Together to understand each other's pace," Lucas said trying to release the tense environment, " good idea " max exclaimed and we all started running towards the track through the jungle. 

I was trying to run at my team's pace slower than my original speed, to keep up with them.

I could feel the tension built between me and Sam, one glimpse of his lips made me want to kiss him and I hated that feeling.

I was unable to understand that urge as I was not in contact with my wolf, I only knew she was somewhere in there. I came out of my thoughts to realize that even though I was not running at my full speed I had left my crew long back but Sam was running right beside me, he was stronger and faster than anyone else as he had alpha blood running in his veins. 

Before I could understand anything he grabbed my wrist and got off the tracks pressing me against the tree, I felt his heavy breath on my neck " I don't know if you can feel the bond Hope, because you are a human hybrid, but you belong to me, my wolf seeks for you and you drive me crazy " he said running his fingers over my hands.

" Sam... I don't...want..." before I could complete my sentence I felt his lips on mine, the touch was so sensual, I could feel the sparks of electricity, I wanted to move but I couldn't. He stopped kissing me and my heart ached, he looked at me and said:" I know that you hate me hope but I can swear on my alpha blood that I am not a bad person and I will take care of you till my last breath" I could feel the sincerity in his voice.

" Sam please give me some time, let us concentrate on the mission after that I .. We can decide how to move further," I said not looking in his eyes. 

I could not believe what I said, I was a strong woman but he made me feel weak in my knees. I could see the pain in his eyes after hearing what I said. " ok let's run back " he said running towards the track, not looking at me at all.

Next five days our team trained together trying to understand how we both functioned doing all sorts of activities that will develop our mutual understanding and working capabilities with each other. we also planned all possible strategies that we could based upon the knowledge we had of that place. 

Something inside me told me we may find our answers this Monday.
