THE MOON CHILD

Chapter 6- Sam

We were supposed to leave for the building in the evening.

 I got ready in a full sleeve top, black gym legging, and boots. I strapped two silver knives in a holster tied to my boots, two small pistols with extra bullets on my waist belt, and my sword place on my back. We all sat down in our rangers.

Jasper, Cara, Lucas, and Max sat in one car while Ramona, Alex, Adam, and William sat in the other.

Sam was waiting for me in the last one. As we were from different packs, we used Bluetooth earphones to be connected.

We started for the destination and I could feel my abdomen flutter with anxiety. He was looking at the road straight with his grip on the steering wheel. 

He was thinking something, I don't know how but I could feel that he was controlling his urges. I was doing the same thing, ohh god !! I was being tested for my patience.

Sam never came near me since the day I told him to concentrate on the mission, sometimes however in between the training sessions, I could feel him looking at me like he would eat me up, but would look away as soon as his eyes caught my gaze.

" Hope, I cannot tell you how difficult it is for me to control my wolf when you smell so intoxicating"' he said not leaving his eyes from the road.

I remained silent looking out of the window, I could feel he wanted to say something but controlled himself.

SAM

I was studying overseas, living with my mother's pack, my father wanted me to live with them so that I could study their combat skills and strategic planning that were way better, and they had the best law school around, I came here a year before I turned 16, my wolf's name is Abe, it took me nine years to complete my post-graduation as well as my training and return to my pack. I was very excited to see my pack and my people.

As soon as I landed my father told me about the Alpha meeting we had that evening, he insisted on me to attend that meeting even though I was tired and exhausted from the journey.

While driving back to the hotel where we were supposed to have that meeting my dad gave me the files that had all the investigation details about the ghost killings around our land. It was the main reason for me to come back a month before I was supposed to arrive.

 I went through the file very thoroughly as I did not want to miss any of the detail and was trying to figure out any hidden clue in the detailed file. Apart from our pack the other pack who was most affected by the killings was the grey wolf pack, 'hope' my mind wondered about her. 

" Sam, we reached," my father said breaking the chain of my thoughts. I got down from the car and followed my dad to the conference hall where the meeting was supposed to take place.

While walking down the corridor I felt something different, like something smelt of roses and strawberry jam, I was a very sweet but intoxicating smell, but before I could move to find the source of the smell my dad called out for me " Sam!! focus my boy, this is the meeting I introduce you to everyone", I pulled my self out of the strange feeling and followed my father.

We took a seat inside the conference room when my wolf started to jump in excitement. I saw Alpha Mercy enter the room, I was confused but then it all cleared out when my eyes fell on her ' Hope!!.

" Mate!!, Mate!!" my wolf started screaming, I felt my breath rising. She was looking around with confusion when her eyes met mine but before I could understand anything, I was standing in front of her " Mine!!" my wolf growled.

It was silent for a few moments, I could feel my heartbeat racing and my wolf jumping. I tried to shake it out of my mind and turned towards her, I tried to look into her eyes when I heard her say " No way". I swear I felt my heartache. She turned around and ran before I could grab her hands, she was gone.

" Damn, she is fast!!" I thought.

" No, no, no, no our mate cannot reject us, that's impossible" I felt my wolf growl. It hurts. I turned towards my father and saw a smile on his face. I wanted to get out of there, to be away from everyone else. I wanted to hold my mate in my arms " s**t it hurts!!".

"I am sorry ", I said to my father ready to leave the room when I caught a glimpse of the confused face of Alpha Mercy. I walked out of the room, wanting to go after her, hold her in my arms and kiss her lips, claim her as mine but I could not feel her scent anymore and did not know where she went.

" Stupid!!", I kicked the pavement, thinking to myself " oh Hope!, I know you hate me, but you belong to me now and I will prove it to you that your hatred towards me is a pure misunderstanding.

PAST 

She looked sad, she was looking into her diary, I knew she was going to cry and I did not want that so I went to her and snatched her diary so that she did not have to feel the pain but she got angry and started to run after me Before I could realize anything I tripped over something and fell, losing my grip on the diary, the next thing I know is that she is standing in the water with her diary in her hand, hugging it. I stood up went near her to see if she was ok. " Ho.." was all I could say before,

" bamn !!"

I felt her fist on my nose, damn that hurt, my nose started bleeding, I looked up but she was gone. I could not ask why she was sad.

PRESENT

I blocked my Mind links as I wanted to be alone. My phone beeped, I saw my Dad's msg " Sam, come back to the hotel, we need to have a meeting with Alpha Mercy on ghost killings" I looked up into the sky.

" Find Mate!!" my wolf growled.

" Let it Go, Abe, It is going to take more work than you think, she is not a werewolf exactly and she does not understand the mate bond, we will need a lot of convincing".

" but I felt her wolf, I cannot talk to her but I know she is somewhere inside her" my wolf cooed. I was very confused about what he said.

Beep. 

My phone vibrated again " Sam we have the meeting in 1 hour, bring your wolf ass back here at once".

I felt frustrated.

Beep.

 I got his msg again " Hope is going to be the part of the meeting too", my wolf rejoiced on the possibility of being able to see her again.

MEETING

She was sitting right in front of me, all I wanted was to admire every inch of her beauty, after all, she belonged to me and was all mine. My father placed the files in front of her, talking in-depth about the current situation, I could see her grow uncomfortable under my gaze.

My Dad talked about the casualties caused in the last two months and the possibility of a vampire being behind it. She looked worried. I wanted to take away from all the worries.

“ We wanted to include other packs but they are not yet open to the idea of investigating together in their property” he paused and then continued “ plus the number of killings is almost negligible outside our territory, so them being less concerned is understandable,” my dad said looking at me gesturing me to take the meeting further.

 I understood my duties towards my pack, detailed out the places of the killings, and the way they were conducted. I could not move my eyes away from her. I saw a water droplet travel down from the corner of her mouth to her chin before she rubbed it with her fingers.

I composed my self, I had to focus, people were dead, my people to be precise. I spoke about my doubts regarding the vampires and the consequences involved. I could not afford any of my people dying anymore. 

“No it’s not vampires, “she said breaking the silence. She explained how she thought it was not a vampire, I did not know what to say, I was worried for my people. She showed us the maps which explained the connection between the killings, she wanted to investigate in our land. I wanted to hold her and say it's her home also now, because she belonged to me and whatever was mine, belonged to hers too. I got up moving close to her, I wanted to hold her but I controlled my self. I took in her smell but she moved away from me, my wolf growled in pain. I suppressed the feeling and showed them the writings that we found on the place she mentioned to be the center of the circle, she wanted to go and investigate that area coming Monday, I knew what she meant " full moon " we both exclaimed together. 

I felt nice about the fact that we thought alike. she was adamant about going there, and I was not letting her go alone, I wanted to keep her safe, I wanted my people safe

“my team will join too“, I said” I want to know who is behind the loss caused to my pack “ my people are my responsibility. She agreed and my wolf rejoiced. It was decided that the training would start the very next day. 

I sat down on the chair taking all the information in, I closed my eyes with all sorts of thoughts disturbing me, how was I supposed to protect them when I did not even know what was the threat, I was worried. I opened my eyes to see the Jasper guy hug my mate.

Bamm!! 

I hit the table to show my annoyance but before I could say anything he left the room, leaving me alone with my mate. She was busy picking up the files and did not even notice me approaching her from behind.

"The Moon Goddess decided for you to be my mate Hope, I will not let anyone touch you, you are mine, mine Hope,” I said, I tried to move closer to her but felt her shiver. 

' NO!, You are my mate and you should not fear my touch ' I thought. I turned around and left the room.
