Chapter 3 - Denial

FLASHBACK

I ran towards my dad crying, I held his legs and just stood there complaining

”Sam is so bad daddy, he made me kiss the frog”

“and what made you listen to him, little princess?”

“Because he said that it was hurt and needed my kiss to heal, so I did it but then he started laughing on me and made fun of me for kissing a frog “I was so angry.

Dad gave me a smile and picked me up, he made me sit on his working table and said” it doesn’t matter what he said to you little princess but I am proud of you for what you did, I am proud because you wanted to help the frog” he said looking into my eyes.

“ Really daddy??”

“Really, little princess”

PRESENT 

I was sitting there for half an hour maybe, the weather seemed to be fine and so was my mood.

I felt my mom’s touch on my shoulder; she came and sat beside me.

”Are you okay sweetie? “She said looking at me.

“Mom, it cannot be him, he is Sam and I hate him” I exclaimed.

“Can you feel the bond?” Mom asked looking at me curiously.

I was looking at my feet when I said:” he smelt like lemongrass and my heart skipped a beat when he was standing in front of me”. 

My mom sighed and said,” the mate bond is stronger than you think hope, it is not something you can run from, it will sooner or later pull you towards him”.

I felt very nervous and I guess she sensed it and said” I will not force you into anything sweetheart, that not how I function but I will definitely like you to give it a try once. Alpha Ameual is excited about the fact that you are Sam’s mate and he wants you to join his pack.”

I looked at her confused “And Sam? “

She was looking at the bird sitting on the tree in front of us and went silent for a few minutes like she was contemplating something “he left as soon as you left the room” she finally said.

“ I am not going anywhere. Period!!” I yelled as I ran towards the hotel we were staying in with my high speed.

Sometime later in the evening, Jasper knocked on my door calling out for me “Hope, the Alpha wants to meet you regarding the ghost killings, I guess she has some information for us and she wants us in the conference room. Can you please come down?” He stood there in silence for two minutes; I could feel him growing impatient across the door. 

Jasper was not just my best friend but he was Uncle Roger's son and next in line to become the beta.

 I opened the door and looked at him; I guess he knew whatever happened in the meeting room in the afternoon, my mother must have told him, as she knew that he was the only one who could ever talk any sense into my mind, he was like the brother I never had, he kept me both safe and sane.

”Ok let’s go,” I said.

He said nothing but walked in front of me till the conference room.
