Chapter 13

Mason

It was supposed to be my day off but something came up so I was summoned at the fire station. The meeting took a couple of hours but for some reason I was getting really restless. I checked my phone for any message from Lukas but nothing. I tried calling him but he did not answer, I was actually worried because he was supposed to leave today. I had no idea what time he would be home but I really wanted to see him, hold him in my arms. I saw doc walking towards me "Mason I need you to tell Lukas that I won't be in town tomorrow, so we can speak on Monday. Okay" sure doc. "Hey doc, what time is Lukas supposed to reach" I asked while rubbing the back of my neck. "What are you talking about?" doc asked "Lukas reached around 30 mins ago" he said I choked on my own spit. "What? then why is he not answering my calls" I asked surprised. The doc shrugged, patted my shoulder and walked away. Without informing anyone, I jumped into my truck and drove home. The front door was unlocked and that got me really suspicious. If Lukas was home he would make sure to lock the door properly. 

I walked towards the door and I heard Lukas scream "Mason" in pain. I pushed opened the door and saw the table lamp broken on the ground, there was blood on it and I freaked. I saw Joey's head popping up from the other side of the couch, I rushed to the couch and saw Joey scarring Lukas's stomach with a knife. "f*****g s**t" I jumped on Joey pulling him off Lukas before grabbing the knife from his hand and throwing it away. I punched him in the stomach while he laughed and spat blood. "Who the f**k are you and why did you attack Lukas?" I asked still throwing punches at him. He pushed me to the ground before heading for the door. I was going to follow him when I saw blood all over my fingers. Lukas was out and this was his blood. I carried him in my arms while rushing him to the hospital. Em and Jay saw us and quickly alerted the sheriff and the doc. I looked down at Lukas and tears rolled from my eyes. As I reached the hospital doc and the sheriff were waiting for us. I placed Lukas on the stretcher and they rushed inside, my hands were shaking seeing how I was drenched in his blood. 

I told the Sheriff about what I saw helped them sketch a picture of Joey or whatever his name was, the doc supported me on this too. I sat outside the OT along with Em and Jay and waited to hear about Lukas. The operation was finally over, but no one was allowed inside. Lukas had slipped into a partial comma and it would take him time to get out of it as he had taken a very hard beating on his head. It's been 4 days and I have not left Lukas's side nor have they been able to find that man. If I get my hands on him again I swear I am gonna kill him ... I promise myself. I notice Lukas's eye lids open a little and close again. "Lukas" I called softly and again he opened his eyes blinking a few times, trying to adjust to the light. "Mason" he said and I swear I was the happiest I have ever been in my entire life. I called the doc and they checked Lukas to make sure everything was fine. 

"Lukas... I ... I am so happy you're come back to me" I said crying and he held my hand in his and said "I Love You Mason and I am sorry I did not tell you what you mean't to me before" I brushed my lips on his and he deepen the kiss. After we broke away from the kiss Lukas asked "Where is Zico?" Who is Zico I asked looking confused. "That guy, the one who attacked me." he said and I was kind of shocked. "You know him" I asked and he nodded looking away. 

"It's been 8 years since I last saw him, he .. he" and tears slipped from his eyes. "Shhh.. don't talk you need to rest, I will handle everything now, we will speak later when you feel better" I said kissing his forehead. He held me hand close to his chest and closed his eyes. "Don't leave me Mason" he said before falling off to sleep. "I won't leave you I promise" I said kissing his hand and resting my head on his bed.
