Chapter 5- Bridget's POV

1048 Words
The next day at college was a blur. It was a Thursday. Thursdays were the busiest days of the week for me. Aside from a hectic schedule at school, I had a late afternoon shift at the local cafe after school. Then I have to take my turn babysitting Annie; the nice neighbours’ 7-year-old. Her parents work night shifts on Thursdays, so they offered to pay me to watch her while they're away. I mean I'm not complaining. They were genuinely kind people. Except that Annie was a bit stubborn. The day went by pretty fast. I avoided all the teachers. Skipped lunch. And got distracted in class. The little escapade between James and me last night, kept replaying in my head. I was practically drooling in class. James and I had the last period together. I haven't seen him all day because I'm too shy to face him after last night. The bell rang for the last period. I packed my things and walked into the halls, making my way to business class. Someone bumped into me out of nowhere and all my books spilled out of my hands as I stumbled backwards. I looked up to give the person a piece of me, only to see Rex looking down at me with an irritated look plastered on his face. “Are you blind, or are you just so stupid not to watch where you're going?” He spat at me. I blinked. Is he actually saying that when he's clearly at fault? “Uhm…..excuse me, but you bumped into me. You're the one to apologise.” He scoffed. “Apologise my ass. You apologise, creep!” “And why would I apologise to a jerk like you?” I crossed my arms and looked firmly up at him. “I didn't do anything wrong. You bumped into me“ I was gonna let him bully me. As soon as I spoke, he doubled over and burst out laughing. “You've got some nerve to talk, Cooper” He stepped forward and I took a step back. He smirked and stepped towards me again and I kept retreating from him until my back hit a locker. He was really tall; the tallest in the school, I suppose. He towered over me and leaned closer and whispered in my ear. “Trust me princess, you really don't want to step on a tiger's tail. Watch how you talk to me or you'll regret it” I felt a shiver run down my spine. Somehow his words didn't sound like an empty threat. He was stern, like he meant every word. With that, he pulled away from me and walked away. I crouched down to pick up my books. ‘Who the hell does he think he is’ I said to myself. I stood up and ignored the many pairs of eyes on me. I got to class and sat in the back row. Only a few of us were here. I was bringing out my books and materials when I saw James walk in. My sour mood instantly disappeared as I saw him. His eyes were scanning the room, searching until they landed on me, and his face lit up. He smiled, walking to me. He sat down next to me on the bench and scooted over placing a kiss on my cheek. “Hey, babe” he said, grinning from ear to ear. “Why are you so excited for business class?” I asked sarcastically. “Oh babe, but I'm not. I'm excited to see you. You know? After yesterday…...” I gently hit his chest to stop him from continuing. He chuckled lightly and brought out his notes. “You think we should skip last period?” he winked at me. “No, James. We have a test next week remember?” “Ughhh, I hate tests!” he groaned. Now it was my turn to chuckle. Just then, the professor walked in and began his lecture. Halfway into the class, I turned and caught James staring at me. “What the heck, James? Listen to the teacher and stop staring” I whisper-yelled at him. “I can't help it. You look so pretty” he whispered back. I felt my cheeks turning red as I turned back to face the front of the class. “You're distracting me” he breathed out. I ignored him. And I did for the rest of the class; just to tease him. I stood as soon as I heard the bell, and walked out really fast. I wanted to tease him a bit. Almost as soon as I walked out, I felt an arm wrap around my waist and pull me into an empty classroom. He spun me and pressed my back against the wall. “Don't run from me, baby” “I wasn't running. I was trying to get to work” I lied. “You're lying, babe. Well, if you want to go, you have to give me a kiss, before I let you go.” Is he serious right now? I gave him a quick peck on the lips and tried to move away from his grip. “Let go, James. I gave you what you asked for” I freed myself, only for him to pull me back by my hand. “Whoa, not so fast, Bri. I asked for a kiss. That wasn't a kiss” he smirked. “Yes, it was” “No. This. This is a kiss” He pulled me by the waist and crashed his lips on mine. I kissed him back and wrapped my arms around his neck. He bit my lower lip, asking for access. I opened my mouth and his tongue finds mine. My head was spinning. He kissed me aggressively like he was trying teach me a lesson. It was so good. I moaned a little and he responded with a throaty groan. We finally pulled away. He looked into my eyes and held my face in his hands. “I couldn't stop thinking about last night”, he said softly. “Me too” He smiled and stepped back. “Let's go. I'll drive you to the cafe”
