“Miss Vice President!” She walked out of the exam hall smiling when somebody called her. Before proceeding further, Zyla is an excellent undergraduate with few positions in clubs and organisations. One of her positions is vice president of Innovation and Environment Club, one of the biggest organisations in her faculty. Her four years of struggling ends today. Yvonne, one of her friends came running toward her. “We are free!!!!” Yvonne shouted out loud. They both hugged and jumped in excitement.
“So what’s your next plan?” Yvonne asked.
“I’ll think about it later. For now, let’s party~~~” Zyla swung her arm over Yvonne’s shoulder and rushed over to Yvonne’s car.
The grey metallic sports car left the college parking lot and went into traffic. On their way to Zyla’s house, they turned on the radio and Eric’s song was on air. Nice. Perfect timing. She changed the frequency. “Hey!” Yvonne slapped her hand away. “My car, my rules, and I want to listen to this song. It’s my favourite.”
“Tch. Whatever.” She drove into the traffic.
The duo arrived at the nightclub and met the heavenly good-looking duo, Eric and his friend, who is tall, dark and handsome. Perfect combo! Yvonne’s mouth opened into a perfect ‘O’.
“Is that Eric?” Yvonne asked. “Ooo. Who’s the guy next to him? Totally my style. “Let me tell you something, that is how I picture an angel from heaven.”
Zyla rolled her eyes in annoyance. Cringed. “Yes, that’s him. No idea who that is.”
“Wait, he’s coming this way!” Yvonne excitedly announced - fixed her hair and make up.
“May we join you girls?” Eric asked.
“Yes.” She sheepishly grinned. "S-sure... Of course, why not?" Yvonne stuttered a bit but her gaze glued on Eric's friend.
Zyla rolled her eyes and shook her head in disbelief. ‘This girl.’
“I gotta go to the washroom.” Zyla stood up and went to the washroom. “What does she see in him?” Zyla mumbled to herself. She accidently bumped into someone as she stepped out of the washroom. “Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.” She fervently said sorry. She gasped when she came to know that the guy is no other than Sean Choi.
“Sean?” She raised her eyebrows. “What are you doing here?”
“Can’t I be here? It's public property” Sean replied.
“Ohh…Okay…” she replied. “I’ll get going first.”
“Hey…” he called. “You look good.”
“Yeah, things got changed. I’ll leave first.”
She was about to walk away when Sean grabbed her arms and said, “If I’m the reason you changed into this, I’m sorry.”
“What?” she asked – shocked. Her pace halted. “No.”
“Zy…” Sean added. “I know I’ve done you wrong but I didn’t mean to hurt you at all.” Sean grabbed her arms.
“What do you mean? You didn’t mean it?!” She turned and faced him. She tried to control her emotions which was on a roller coaster ride at that very moment. “You and your stupid childish bet can go to hell.” She tried to yank her hand away.
“It has been ten years for God's sake. Can you forgive me?!” He grasped her arms even tighter. Eric, who just arrived in time for nature’s call, was shocked, seeing Zyla and another guy yelling toward each other at the corner.
“You have ruined my life! After what you did, no one in the school ever talked to me again! I have to transfer school each time the secret is revealed. If you didn’t bet with your friends for my virginity, nothing like this would’ve happened.” Zyla blurted all out. “I couldn't find any reason to forgive you...” He stared at her with a shocked expression. Sean shook his head - trying to reasoned himself out but failed. Zyla's gaze explained everything. The broken trust, the agony in her heart and her faith in love. Tears formed at the corner of her eyes but she managed to hold it in.
“Zy…” he grabbed her arm.
“Don’t touch me.” She pulled away. “I don’t wanna have anything to do with you anymore.”
Eric dashed toward him and threw him a punch. Sean almost flew across the hall and then down to the floor. Zyla gasped and then grabbed Eric arm – stopped him from beating Sean to pulp. “Enough. Let’s go.”
“No, I still need to use the washroom.” Eric said, he straightened out himself and walked over Sean and entered the washroom. “If you could let me beat him some more, I would be delighted to do that.” He added right before he stepped into the washroom.
Eric saw she flirted with another guy right after he left the bathroom. The guy asked her, “Want to get out of here?” Eric fumed in anger and dashed toward them and grabbed her by her arm, “She’s taken and I’m not sorry for that.”
Zyla tried to resist but to no avail. She didn’t stop trying to let go of her arm but the grip was getting tighter each time they got closer to the door. She might get bruised all over her arm if he didn’t plan to let go of her arm sooner.
“Oww!” She winced. “Stop pulling me.” She pulled her arm away.
“You really want to have s*x that much? Isn’t one guy not enough for you?” Eric yelled onto her face but no one gave any attention to both of them including Yvonne, who’s busy making out with Jeremy, Eric’s TDH friend (Tall, dark and handsome).
“This is why I hate people like you. I knew I should’ve avoided you in the first place.” She crossed her arms. “Mr. Yan, listen well. I never say that I want to commit to you. I never say that we are going to be in a relationship. I never say I will try to love you because I will never do that. At least not in this life.”
She walked away but Eric advanced toward her and spun her around. She was drawn back toward his embrace and he pulled her into a deep French kiss. She resisted a couple times but then she gave in. Before she could say anything, he carried her in a bridal style into his car.
The very next morning, she woke up before Eric, she quickly grabbed her underwear and wore them in a hurry when Eric awoke. ‘s**t!’ she clenched her jaw. ‘This is why I hate this kind of guy, they get clingy and they control you and later they’ll do whatever they want and leave when they’ve had enough.’ She grabbed her things and stuffed them into her bag in a hurry.
“Morning~” Eric said smiling.
“Morning.” she replied crouched down, collecting her clothes and got dressed. She quickly fixed her hair in front of the mirror.
“Can we have a talk?”
“I don’t…”
“Just a couple minutes.”
She rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Shoot.”
“Let’s have a conversation over breakfast.” Eric offered and when she’s about to reject, Eric eased out of the bed and planted a soft kiss on her forehead leaving her speechless for a moment. “Then, I’ll go take a shower first.” She replied - she blankly stared at the floor.
Eric, who was wearing nothing but an apron as his top cover, revealing his muscular back, served her with a plain coffee, “Do you want some toast?”
“You say you want to talk, so shoot.” ‘Stop wasting my time!’ Zyla looked straight to his friend.
“Can we be friends?”
“Friend? Are you kidding me? I’ll never sleep with my friend and the guy who slept with me will never be my friend.”
“Just friends, nothing more, nothing less.”
She thought, “Okay. If you are dying to be my friend, no s*x. End of story.”
“Deal.” Eric smirked and took the cup and sipped down the hot coffee. At that moment, she knew she’d made the biggest mistake of her entire life, accepting him into her life.
