The security monitor cast its cold light. Through the feed came a full view of the holding cell. Lily's face no longer existed. A thousand cuts. Not one more, not one less. She was curled in a corner, making sounds I couldn't quite name. Leo sat in a chair across from her, watching with cold, blank eyes, nothing on his face at all. As if none of this had a thing to do with him. He tilted his head back. His gaze cut through the camera lens and found me on the other side of the screen. I couldn't make out what was in his eyes. Maybe the equipment just stripped away the cold. 'Time to go in.' I killed the feed and got to my feet. The iron door swung open. The smell of blood and something suffocating rushed to meet me. Leo's eyes found me immediately, his voice rough. "You're here."
