Chapter 11

Eliza POV I headed upstairs, threw on a comfortable pair of PJs, and then got settled in my nook. I found myself thinking about our dinner. I also felt like someone was watching me again. Why am I suddenly feeling this in my own home? I have never been a paranoid person, and usually, my gut feelings are spot on. But I looked all over and couldn’t see anything but the typical neighbors and darkness. The more I thought about him once I was sure I was losing my mind about someone creeping around, I was a mix of arousal and something else I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Something about Ryan made me and my wolf uneasy, but I couldn’t figure out why. He kept his promise; he wasn’t terrible, and he might be a good Alpha, our Alpha soon. I needed to find out more about Ryan, and I knew just who to ask. The girl knew everything about everyone. She loved to gossip, bless her heart. I pulled out my phone and texted Crystal. Me: “Hey girl, how was your date with Jason?” Crystal: “Girl, he is a rock star in bed. Knows just how to touch me in all the right ways!” I turned red instantly. Sometimes, she had no idea how to keep things to herself, and usually it was something s****l. She knew I didn’t have s*x, so maybe she was just giving me pointers, but the embarrassment was something else. Me: “TMI girl, TMI!” Crystal: “You can live vicariously through me. By the time you finally get some, I'd better get all the dirty details.” I chuckled out loud. She was never getting all the details, but she could think she would. Me: “You up for some girl time?” Crystal: “Of course, I will be over in a few.” I set my phone down and stared out at the forest. It always calmed my nerves. Within a few minutes, she opened my bedroom door. She had a key, so I knew who it was the moment the door opened. Crystal: “Hey girl. I heard you had a hot date tonight. You better give me all the juicy details.” I frowned. How did she know? Me: “It was NOT a date. I just had dinner with Ryan. Trying to make friends, you know.” Crystal: “Ryan freaking Lancaster?” she all but squealed. “That’s a pretty hot friend, alright!” Me: “Yes, but it wasn’t a date. He was just making it up to me for being a jerk at the party. He actually wasn’t half bad.” Crystal: “You know he is going to be our next Alpha, right?” Me: “I didn’t, but he shared that tonight at dinner. That he might be. What do you know about him?” Crystal: “Well, he loves the ladies. I think he has slept with almost every girl here and probably the academy too. They constantly talk about how good he is in bed. He isn’t one to date, though. He just likes to have his fun.” She shrugged. My face was turning various shades of pink again. I knew he was a player; I just didn’t think much about it. Shouldn’t matter; he is just a friend, I remind myself. Me: “I guess I am not surprised; I saw the way the waitress and other girls near us were looking at him tonight. It was like he was their dinner.” I chuckled out loud. Crystal: “Well, did you have a nice dinner? No wild s*x, I see, since you are up here in your room in your PJs.” I rolled my eyes and smacked her on the leg. Me: “I told you, we are just friends. He seems like a nice guy. Maybe he will be a good Alpha?” Crystal: “Maybe, I heard he can be a control freak. Not sure if that is good or bad. He will definitely be different than Alpha Kyle.” Me: “So what else do you know about him?” I smiled. Crystal: “You totally have it bad for him, don’t you? I knew it.” She laughed. She could be impossible sometimes, I swear. I rolled my eyes again and averted my gaze. She could tell when I was lying. Not that I was lying, but I really did want to just be friends. Especially if he was such a player. Me: “No, I told you we are just friends. Or, I would like to be. I just don’t know much about him and thought you might since you are banging his friend.” Crystal: “Girl, I’m just scratching my itch. You should try it sometime, then maybe you won’t be so uptight. I know you want to save yourself, but you know when we go into heat, it’s impossible. And even when we aren’t in heat, I don’t know how you do it.” She smiled. I didn’t know how I did it either. So far, I keep myself locked up when I am in heat. I stay up here in my room and take care of that itch myself. Admittedly, it is never enough. My body burns so badly, longing for someone to take care of it for me. But I have a strong will. So far, I have managed. My wolf usually won’t acknowledge me for a few days afterward, upset that we won’t let someone scratch our itch. But she also knows why. Me: “Trust me, I have thought about it. But I made a promise to myself, you know that.” Crystal: “I know, but it doesn’t mean you can’t do other things?” She smiled. Me: “I can’t even imagine. Not like I’ve had a lot of options anyway.” Crystal: “Well, you do now!” Me: “Maybe, but tell me what you know about him?” We talked for hours. Eventually, we watched a movie, and she headed home. That was the first of many sleepless nights for me. I tossed and turned, having crazy s*x-filled dreams of him. Mostly the same dream, occasionally some variation, but I would always wake up drenched in my own arousal, panties soaked, drenched in sweat, and hand hovering just above my sweet spot. I was right; I went to heat a few days after our dinner. Dammit! This is going to be torture.
