Keb
I sauntered through the entrance of the filthy, run-down laundromat. Smirking when the owner winced in fear as I passed by.
Ducking through the back entrance, I turned for the closet door. With a knock, it opened, and I descended the steep set of stairs to the vast labyrinth of rooms below. The darkness faded to shifting colors as I first moved through a larger room bumping with music and strobe lights.Gyrating bodies filled the space. Many dancing suggestively with partners. Others scattered around the outer edges, fornicating. There were mortals and immortals alike. Men and women of all ages participating while the patrons were f*****g whatever they wanted. Or sucking the life out of them.
As I moved through the first hallway, I caught glimpses of our higher-paying patrons enjoying the finer spoils we'd accumulated. Favorites we had acquired that were requested time and again by several patrons. Moans of pleasure and of misery, intermingled in the spaces, soothing the masochist within. Screams from a few rooms were music to my ears.
Brushing through a sheeted cover at the end of the hall, the familiar sounds of chainsaws and other medical instruments could be heard over the deafening cries and screams of the dying. This was where our product was harvested for an assortment of things sold on the mortal and immortal black markets. Wombs. Organs. Flesh. Bone... Everything sold eventually.
Normally, when new bodies were brought in, they were held in the front room for a few days so we could get the most out of them before bringing them to the back to be harvested.
Yes, it was a deplorable and disgusting business, but someone had to do it. There was a demand for such things and anyone desperate enough paid handsomely. Morals be damned.
Past the harvesting room, I ducked into the back offices where my personal space resided. Slipping into the first room, I stared at the rather empty space with a set of short, enchanted chains secured to the wall. Closing my eyes, I fantasized Jadea there, with her white hair, green eyes and gloriously naked body on display... Hanging there, waiting for me with a defiant look on her face. Because I knew she would fight till the bitter end.
Ever since she came on my radar, I'd had an unhealthy obsession with her. One I knew would either be my best reward, or my greatest downfall. She was strong. Independent. A warrior. An enigma. A challenge. So many women were weak creatures. Soft. Complacent. They didn't put up much of a fight.
But her ...
She was different. And I was curious.
I wanted to know intimately how much it took to break her. To fracture that spirit until there was nothing left.
I wanted revenge for everything she'd taken from me. I lost millions in revenue due to the handful of trafficking rings she'd closed. Foundations that were centuries old. I was determined to use her to replace every last cent she'd taken from me and more. I would sell her body, knowing there would be a specific niche for her. There were many immortals out there she had crossed. Once word got out ... They would come. And it would attract others.
But, when she wasn't entertaining others...
My mind spiraled into one of my latest fantasies of her chained to the wall. Forced to stay awake in this cold room. Worn down. Starved. Pleading on her knees for any respite. Allowing her to suck me off for a measly piece of moldy bread that wouldn't nourish her body...
"S-Sir," a small, weak voice stammered from the doorway.
My severe glare landed on the haggard boy who tembled in the doorway, eyes downcast, a letter clutched in his fist. I held out my hand in annoyance. He handed it over and scampered away.
Ripping the envelope open, I saw my sister's familiar handwriting neatly scrawled across the page.
After my strike against Jadea at the cabin in Montana, my sister forced me to wait to strike again. I wanted to regroup and hit while they were scrambling and at odds, while she was still so scared and broken. Unable to rally and lead her pack. I hadn't wanted to give them time to re-coup.
But ... She did have a point.
Jadea was under the Phoenix's personal protection. We did have to tread carefully and with purpose. Or else all would be lost.
My sister was a prominent figure in the immortal community. Mated to a continental councilor. And she took orders from someone higher up the food chain. Someone in the High Immortal Council. It had taken a long time to establish ourselves within the councils. If my beta or I were captured ... It would all be over.
But, having Jadea as a loose cannon wasn't much better. If she remembered, it would all be over.
Ugh! This was a mess. If only Lynn hadn't convinced my sister to spare Jadea and try to turn her to Cerberus's cause, we wouldn't be in this predicament now. Because I would never have provided her with the opportunity to escape.
That damned alpha! He was a heap of trouble. I'd known Silas was soft. But no one else wanted to believe it. He was good at pretending. I saw him for what he was though. And now, after such a blunder, I'd been given permission to hunt him down and kill him. One of my subordinates was tracking him now. It wouldn't be long till we found him.
Re-focusing on the letter, I read what my orders were:
They moved her. From what our inside source says, she hasn't recovered her memories. Strike tonight. Take her before she figures out how to remember, and we are all hung. Do not fail me this time. Or else.
Or else? I scoffed. She had some damn nerve trying to intimidate me. Sighing in annoyance, I reached out to my pack and the others I led. I would need all able bodies for this strike, knowing we would be up against her pack and that hell-hound's pack.
By daybreak, I would have her chained to my wall of horrors.
