Jadea
"Focus on its power." His words flowed through my mind.
Following the blueprint in his mind, I focused on my sword. While made of metal, there was magic imbued in the very elements of it. The infinite vibrations barely audible through the storm raging around us. Its powers were slowly seeping into me, while my essence bled into it.
This sword had been a gift from the Moon God, Rakesh. Gifted to me before I'd faced Elam on the battlefield. An inscription carved into the blade: Fight for your dreams, and they will fight for you.
"It is an extension of you. Allow the power to engulf you," Agamemnon encouraged. "Feel how the moon's and earth's powers are automatically drawn to you. How they immerse you in their comfort and silent strength. Allowing you to use them in whatever way you need."
Below my feet, the hum of the earth came into sharp repose. The trees swaying in the storm, their trunks holding strong because of their large roots buried deep in the earth. All their roots interconnected, like a vast network. I could feel how they were all interconnected. How they relied on each other and the earth. Within the air, I felt the electricity building right before the lighting arced across the sky; jerking when it viciously struck the ground. In its wake, I felt the deep wounds it left on the earth's surface as the rumble of thunder rolled across the land.
Beyond the clouds, I felt the moon... even though it was hidden out of sight, I felt its magnetic pull. It's energy cleansing my mind and spirit.
"Let it overtake you."
His voice was fading into the background as I drifted into the night. My eyes closing. Spirit soaring above the land. It felt like I was floating on the wind.
"Allow its healing aura to course through you. Allow it to work for you, not against you."
I was acutely aware of where everyone was. Where the forest animals were taking shelter from the storm. The water as it soaked into the earth, melting the snow. The droplets soaked into the soil. Deep below the earth's surface, beyond the mantle, the core. The very life source of this world. I was one heartbeat in this vast ecosystem. Significant. Meaningful. Here, matter could not be destroyed. Even if I passed, my body would return to the earth.
There was energy and life everywhere I turned.
Agamemnon was right. I didn't need the ley lines to connect with the earth. I just needed a bit of help seeing it.
"Now, take a deep breath--"
I did, the fresh rain air filling my lungs.
"--And reach for her."
Beyond the mystical and magical world, beyond my concious, deep into the darkened void of my very own soul, I reached...
"Don't hesitate. Fall. Trust her. Trust yourself."
I didn't just fall. I plunged into the darkness. Knowing I had to embrace my anger, my pain, my failures, my everything before she could come back.
I had to believe in myself.
I am worthy. I spoke into the void.
I am strong, even when I am scared.
I am proud of myself and this world is better because of me.
My affirmations flowed through me, through my spirit and soul, filling the cold and darkened cracks with warmth.
I believed them.
I believed in myself.
As the darkness swallowed me whole, I was momentarily caught in what felt like a warm summer breeze. It was welcoming. Soothing. Familiar.
Shadows of silver moon dust suddenly swirled around me, embracing me. The silvery specks transforming into a wolf, her eyes blackened holes that seemed to peer into the vast galaxy shining from within my eyes.
This was her.
My wolf.
I wanted to cry with relief and laugh in joy, but I noticed her hesitancy.
She was afraid.
While the enemy hurt us initially, and Silas had continued to force us apart by making us unable to trust each other, I'd driven the wedge further between us. Every time I hurt myself, it scared her. Made her believe she was the reason for my pain and suffering.
"I'm sorry," I breathed into the space between us, my heart breaking knowing I'd played a part in this. "I was wrong to do that. I didn't know how much pain it was causing you."
She took a step closer, wanting to believe the nightmare was over.
"We are back with him. Adam. He's helping me." He knew about everything, and he was helping us cope. Helping us learn healthier ways to manage those episodes. "Please. Come back with me."
I miss you...
I need you...
Before everyone else, there had only been her...
If she refused, I wasn't sure what I would do. If there was anything that could be done.
Lunging forward, I felt her essence seep into mine. Warmth shot through me. My heart rate slowed, breathing deepened, muscles relaxed as my wolf bound herself once more to our soul.
When I blinked upon the meadow once more, her essence stayed with me. Strong and irrevocably interwoven together once again.
An ecstatic cry ripped from my throat as I mentally embraced her. Tears of happiness mixed with the raindrops. She eagerly responded when Adam's wolf reached out to her and greeted each of our pack's wolves in turn.
My teary gaze lifted to Agamemnon's softened expression. "Thank you."
His lopsided grin did not reach his eyes. He almost looked... Sad. "I'm glad I could help." With that, he and his pack disappeared into the surrounding trees, leaving me to rejoice with my pack and mate.
