Rescue

“She’s alive. Maybe not for too much longer but I can feel her spirit right now. We move on my accord, am I clear?” I listen for the centaurs’ locations. Two at the front the little crappy house and one inside with the girl. “You all take care of the two upfront. I’ll take the one inside.” I didn’t need them fretting and in my way due to what is taking place on the inside. As I move to make my way to the back, the larger of the two centaurs look in my direction and growls. Damn it. “Looks like there’s a change in plans fellas,” I say as he charges at us, his friend close behind him after yelling something into the small house. The big guy heads in my direction, so I lead him away from the others for a one-on-one fight. Maybe I can brush up on my skills if he’s even on a strong enough level. “You’ve finally come for the girl?” He stands there with his hands on his hips, humor in his tone. “No, I’m here for my own freedom.” He laughs. “Well, if that’s all you want maybe we can work out a deal then?” Oh? “A deal? With the likes of you? Then I’d be going back on my word, which is something I will never do.” He looked displeased by my answer and once again charges me. Her scent is all over him and I black out unable to control myself I sent him flying with a kick. He crashes into the house and her scent grows stronger. The third centaur quickly jumps to his feet and reveals a beautiful young girl who looked just like her father but definitely had her mother’s best features. I suddenly had a sharp pain in my chest as my heart clenched with anger. I finally found her, her strength sleeping in this child, my Goddess. I felt my body lose control and shift into my spirit form. The clear night sky clouded and the tension of my anger rose, much like many years ago. But, this time I have to control myself. For her.
