As with the 9 Summers before we headed off to Summer Camp the week after father's day. It was always so exciting. We would pack up and head out after church that Sunday and be gone for a week.
Many of the people we would spend the next week with would be the same usually camp goers we had spent every summer with for all those years.
Faith always enjoyed camp and I enjoyed being with our friends that we didn't see very often.
Faith always found it easy to find a summer romance even if she wasn't "interested" as she would always say. She was attractive and over the last year she had lost around 50 lbs. She had long chestnut hair and brown eyes. She had no trouble getting a nice suntan laying out by her family's pool.
It was a different story for me. I was short and chubby. I had red hair and greens eyes but I was the one that everyone laughed at(the jokester). Neither of us had a hard time making friends but Faith was more closed off to new people.
That year there were so new guys that came to camp. Faith had dated a guy from camp for over year but, he had broken up with her before camp this year and wasn't there.
She was so hurt that she promptly burned everything he had ever gave her. She had a bonfire and when she was done there was no trace of him in her bedroom. Where once the room was covered with his pictures and little things of their time together there was nothing left. It seemed like she was over him but not really ready to move on.
Until she saw Jon.....
