“You seem to be getting along with Forest,”
My brow rose and a smirk unconsciously made way on my lips. Christiana saw my reaction which she immediately puzzled. I sighed.
“You’re being mean,”
I shook my head.
“I’m not,”
I heard her sigh heavily.
“You should relax, Nav.”
I scoffed. We just arrived from school and this is the first conversation here in the mansion? I expected to be free from anything related to school. And now, she talks about Forest. I can’t be nice to him knowing we already have a heated encounter.
To be nice to him out of nowhere is something I am uncomfortable with. I don’t want to hurt him or disrespect Forest in any way so I stay indifferent. I guess it’s the least that I can do.
“I am trying my best, Christiana,” not really sure about that.
She gave me her despicable look. I shook my head and dismissed our conversation. I guess I’ll never learn.
But just to be honest to me, I just Forest to act like we never met. It doesn’t really matter if we met beforehand. I want him to act the same way I treat him. I know for a fact that he’s the one I’m writing for but that doesn’t actually mean I have to be close with him, right?
For me, it’s enough to look at him from a distance.
After a while of thinking, I finally decided to make my ritual for Forest. I realized that I need to get out of here so I must finish my work fast. I do hear of some Acadians finishing their mission in just a few months. All we actually do is secure the mating. To make their bond strong. Once we finish that, we can continue to make their destiny in Paredes.
It is my duty to give him his mate so I must commit myself more to this mission. Besides, I am just waiting for the Moon Goddess signal to find his mate.
After a long dinner, I went straight to my room. Finished some assignments on my balcony where I can have the best view of the moon. While I arranged my stuff, I noticed a faint glow in my room, just beside my bedside table.
My eyes narrowed in the direction of the growing light. Then it dawned on me, my pen glowed. The light went stronger with its utmost energy as I went closer to it and the light immediately invaded every corner of my room.
I gently opened the glass box and slowly closed my eyes as the essence of the relic embraced my entirety. The power was so strong that I felt my body was as if on the clouds, on the way to Paredes.
Every bit of essence of the pen surged into my body. Then I heard the whisper of the moon.
“It is time.”
“In the vast forest, you may see.”
The light suddenly went off. A strong wind came into my window making the curtains dance to the flow of the wind.
Something is in the forest. The moon has given me the signal. I immediately went to the balcony jumped out. With my pen in my pocket, I walked to the long and deep forest. The branches covered the moonlight but with the essence the relic gave me, I became the light. I made my slow walk, just relaxing with the breeze of the cold wind.
I looked back and realized I have come a long way already. I didn’t notice that I have already walked that far. When I heard the gush of water, I knew was already near the Alcazar Estate, part of the territory of their pack.
Remembering the river back in Paredes where I used to take my bath, made the gush of the water of the river nostalgic. I went closer but just safe enough to not cross the territory of the Wolves. The harsh flow of the water got louder telling me that I am already close to the waterfall just near the river.
I gazed upon the waterfall magnificently in light as the moonlight touched its waters. What a creation. I will never get tired of all the moon has done.
The harsh image of the waterfalls crashing to the water faded when the moonlight hit the waters. I stayed in awe and sat just enough distance to see the moon and waterfalls.
I watched the moon. I have fallen for the moon. Just everything about the moon.
“You’re here,”
I jolted a bit when, again, I heard him. I didn’t even feel his presence! How is that even possible?!
I rolled my eyes when I saw him get out of the water… naked. This man is really a different breed.
I avoided my eyes from his direction. I didn’t even get to notice that there were clothes just near the river. I facepalmed when I felt him walking on my way. The fact that he’s naked here is alarming already yet I can’t make myself run away.
Is it because I know him already? It must be the case.
“The moon is great, isn’t it?” he sat just two feet away from me. I slowly averted my eyes in his direction. He’s already wearing his pants. But he’s still topless. The beads of water remained on his bare chest that when it hit the moonlight, shined.
One thing I can say. His muscles are indeed ripped. My eyes gazed at it. Every corner of his body seemed like the Gods molded it very well. Not a scratch. My eyes remained stuck on his well-muscled body.
Eventually, he noticed me looking at his body. I coolly looked away but my eyes got a sight of his playful smirk.
My mind is itching for me to stand up and leave already yet my feet couldn’t cooperate.
“I knew you’d come here so I went swimming,”
He got my attention.
“How come?”
The side of his lips rose. He looks intrigued when I finally answered him.
“You seem to love the moon. So, I figured out I’d spot you around here.”
I nodded.
“You sound like you were looking for me,”
He chuckled. Goodness.
“Yeah,” he noticed I was a bit far from the river. “You know, you can come closer if you want.”
I shook my head and stifled a laugh.
“No, thank you. The last time I did, nothing ended well.”
“It’s just the two of us here. Nobody else,”
“I doubt that,” I shrugged my shoulders.
“No one would hurt you if you’re with the son of the Alpha,”
I eyed him for a while. The irony. My head was telling me to run away. Go far. Yet here I am. I crossed the line and went to the soil of their territory.
I wasn’t that close to him but it was enough for me to smell him. I have already known his scent but this is the first time I actually acknowledge it. I am not even looking at him yet I feel his every move.
This time, I am actually more attentive to what he is doing. This must be my body instinct since the first time I crossed their territory, both of the parties got hurt. So, my body reaction must be normal and understandable.
“Do you want to swim in the river?”
I shook my head.
“No,”
“I thought you’d like my suggestion. When I saw swimming here, you look at peace, relaxed, and calm. I even saw you smile genuinely which I never saw ever since that night,”
My brows rose.
“Are you stalking me?”
It actually makes sense knowing that he seems to be observant and we also seem to bump into each other. I’d think it’s a coincidence but after happening many times, it must be. But at the same time, it’s lame to assume that way especially that he’s the wolf I’ll make a destiny for. That would be weird to think of. Even awkward.
He laughed but then tried to hide it. I then concluded it’s just an assumption of mine that he’s stalking me.
“I mean, for a gorgeous lady like you, it wouldn’t be questionable that I’m stalking you. But maybe it’s just destiny trying to bump us with each other,”
Destiny.
I avoided my gaze from him when he mentioned ‘gorgeous’. I’m not used to that word. I just nodded slowly.
I opened my mouth to answer him when his head snapped to the waterfalls. I closed my half-opened lips when he stood up snappily. I watched him as he went closer to waterfalls. He seemed to have sensed something far.
I also noticed that my sharpness of sense hasn’t improved lately. It might take a while. But then forest took my attention when he dashed to the rock formations close to the waterfall. Then my body had a reaction.
My chest felt tight yet relieving at the same time. A feeling I haven’t felt before. I struggled to stand up when my knees started trembling that’s when I felt the presence of several wolves in the area.
In my mind, I thought about running. The wolves were already in bloodshot eyes, ready to attack me but then I remembered what Forest said. As long as I’m with him, they won’t hurt me.
But… where is he? He’s not with me anymore.
And just in time when I turned to Forests’ direction, he changed into his wolverine form. Now, I get why Forest had that reaction. A young girl, drowning in the river, about to fall on the waterfall, crying for help. In Forest wolf form, he saved the drowning young lady.
And I looked at myself. I’m in danger again. But this time it’s different. Forest is not here to save me. He’s saving an important life as I felt the presence of the young lady. She’s a noble witch. He needs to save her first.
I bet he doesn’t even sense my danger. He immediately brought her to the ground. The witch coughed of water. I looked at them for the last time as they had their intimate moment. So, this might be what the Moon Goddess meant.
When I turned back to the wolves around me, I had no time to call for Forest. He needs to save her. With my weak composure, I ran as fast as I could. I thank the Goddess for me giving me this gift. I am able to outrun the wolves this time.
I went home. Exhausted.
To be continued…
