“Do you think it would be much better if we’d part ways? It’ll be easier for us to hunt.”
I blinked a couple of times. We just walked for ten minutes and we still have not found any wild pigs. I thought about what he said for a moment. I swallowed when I realized he hasn’t taken off his eyes from me.
“Then how about… teamwork?” I slowly asked him.
His brow raised at my question, making him look intriguing. He smirked and nodded slowly without taking his gaze from me.
“It’s still teamwork, Nav. It’s actually more strategic, you know.”
My jaw dropped slowly at what he said. I expected for us to work together on this. I know I don’t like the way he acted in the past few days but I just feel it would be better if we work together. Besides, I don’t know much about this area.
I want to say yes but I am hesitating to. I would actually like his suggestion but why am I feeling against this?
I sighed as I nodded.
“I’ll go north, you go south,” I avoided his eyes.
He nodded and started walking without a word. I felt weird by how he just acted. At first, he was cold to me but then I just noticed him being kind out of nowhere. Now, he’s in the middle. He’s not kind nor cold to me. I shook my head and started walking away from him.
My mind kept me bothered about Forest. I shook my head a couple of times and even bother to mess my hair. I walked for minutes already yet I haven’t seen a wild pig. I groaned when Forest cold stare flashed in my mind.
I just realized that I am also not used to his coldness and even his sudden actions towards me before both had affected me but also in a different way. I pursed my lips and just force myself to hunt. I summoned my bow and arrow and focused hard.
I went up to the trees just to have a better view below. While jumping from tree to tree, I thought about the others. They might be done with hunting. I pitied myself for being a loser her but I am more worried about what Forest is thinking now.
I mean, I don’t want him to be acting all kind and gentlemanly towards me but I also hate the fact that he’s actually a bit indifferent towards me earlier. Or is it just me overthinking? That could be a good reason but damn him still!
I sighed and continued to search. I licked my lips when Forest invaded my mind again. I screamed out my throat when it wouldn’t stop. I noticed a wild pig run away quickly just near my area that made me regret my horrible scream.
I sat on a tree branch and just gave up mentally.
“Damn you, Forest.”
I rested my back on the tree. I closed my eyes as I force myself to forget about him. Just today, Nav. Once you do that, you can think of him all week or month but just not today.
I let my tired brain rest as the afternoon breeze comforted me a bit. I just rested my body that has been experiencing aftershocks of my exhausted brain.
My senses sharpened out of nowhere when I felt something below the tree. My brows furrowed as I looked down. Just under me is a wild pig. I sighed in relief as the blessing just arrived itself! What a disastrous yet wonderful day. I’d bet I already lost but I am still going to bring home a pig.
I aimed my arrow at the clueless wild pig. Nice dinner, I guess.
I smirked as I release my arrow. It was supposed to be a victory smile not until I realize a small wolf came at the wild pig the same as I hit it. The wolf almost got shot by my arrow but luckily the wild pig moved a bit and got the bow.
My supposed victory smile faded as the small wolf looked up and saw me. I think this wolf might be a young girl. I sighed heavily and went down. I lowered my head as the wolf transformed into its human form. I took out my rope just hanging on my belt and tied the gasping wild pig when I felt someone slap my hand.
“That’s mine!”
I look up and saw her body fully dressed. Her face is in a mean mode and obviously, just by her clothes, I can tell she’s a noble. Her arms are crossed and her right brow raised. Her eyes would want any normal person to follow her every command but I guess it doesn’t work on me.
And of course, this lady in front of me is a spoiled brat. It’s evident. I can even sense it.
“I got it first,” I eyed her intently.
“It’s mine! Find yourself one,” she tried to even get my rope from me.
I pulled back my rope and her face even got furious. She looks like she wanted to burst. Typical brat.
“I killed it first, young lady.”
“It’s not even dead! Dumbo!”
I raised my brow with what she called me. Now, this girl is a really good representation of Athanatoss. I smirked.
“You can’t call someone names when you’re losing,” I smirked at her.
“And you can’t steal someone else’s pig when obviously, I got it first.”
She’s a fighter.
“How old are you?”
I asked out of the blue.
“Fifteen,” even her voice is annoying.
“I’m a hundred plus years old. I’m older so I get this pig.”
She giggled. An insulting one but at the same time sweet.
“So, you’re a lowly old hag elite.” Her smile reflected mine whenever I insult someone.
I tsked.
“And you’re a cheap and coward noble who can’t accept defeat. In short, immature and dirty.”
“Well, at least I’m not an old hag.”
Great! She smiled sweetly as if winning a debate. I can’t believe myself for fighting with a fifteen-year-old.
I just ignored her and continued to tie up the wild pig. When I finished, I used my powers to lift the wild pig. I think this pig is about eighty kilograms. A big fat piggy.
I got the wild pig but I find it weird that the girl is still following me. I neverminded her presence and walked. I noticed that this lady is a jolly savage type. I sighed as I remembered I argued with a kid. I shook my head.
“So, what’s your name?”
I walked straight.
“None of your business.”
“I’ll call you old hag then,” my face twitched when she chuckled.
“Shut up.”
“I’m Skyla Could but you can call me Cloud.”
My ears felt like they rang a bell. I looked at the kid and she awfully looks familiar but I can’t put it out of my tongue. I shook my head and just focused to walk forward. Why am I even talking to a child?
“Not interested,”
“You’re disrespecting a noble. That’s punishable by law.”
I rolled my eyes when she mentioned their law. I really hate this part of Athanatoss. What a waste for a beautiful world if they have horrible rules and laws. They deserve a facepalm.
“My respect is for someone who deserves it.”
“I deserve it!” she said playfully.
“No, you don’t.”
“So, you disrespect me the same way you disrespect my brother?”
I stopped in my tracks when I heard her questions. And immediately Forest invaded my mind and system. I closed my eyes in irritation. C’mon. If he’s not here, it would be his annoying sister here? Oh, dear.
That’s why they look alike. No wonder.
“We’re civil,” I shook my head and just continued to walk.
“You give him awful days and nights,”
“Must be wolf things,” I shrugged.
“How can you be like that to him, huh?”
I chuckled.
“Chill. I’m not killing your brother.”
I heard her sigh heavily and gave me her insulting eyes. I just rolled my eyes at her.
“I don’t even think your siblings,” I smirked at her when she gave out an expression.
“It’s obvious! We have the same eyes!”
Yes, they do have the same eyes. Brooding and deep. Can be cold and warm at the same time.
“He’s a good guy. You’re a… bitch.”
The side of my lips rose as she rolled her eyes at me this time.
“You’re the only person who can talk to me like that, you know.”
“I didn’t ask,” I said bluntly.
“I like you!”
I thought about what she said. I smiled when I realized we have similarities. I’d bet girls her age hate her. If that assumption is true, I’d say we’d mirror each other’s personalities.
“I like you too,” it escaped my mouth.
“Say that to my brother too!” she made some mini jumps.
I rolled my eyes playfully.
“Oh, shut up.”
To be continued…
