The Unthinkable Mate

Chapter Five The Ritual

Luna and Kate walked as Kate told Luna about her past and about not knowing about the pack being in Holly, and everything James has told her in the last two days.

Luna then asked Kate, “have you guys marked yourself yet as mates?” Kate confused. “What do you mean marked our selves?” Kate asked. “I see James didn’t tell you everything, my dear child, in order for you to become the Alphas mate you have to have s*x to complete the ritual. We have a ceremony first, then after you guys go complete the ritual in a field with the pack around to witness.”

Luna explained. “ You mean we have to have s*x in front of the hole pack?” Kate asked. “Yes my dear.” Luna said. Kate asked, “what if we already had s*x does that mean we don’t have to do the ritual?” Luna told Kate, “even though you have already had s*x we still have to do the ritual, or we lose our power to control our turning. Luna then told Kate, “the ritual was a wedding ceremony in away. When one takes his mate they become one, they need each other and no one else. Some take a mate and some find their mate, and for James it seems like he found his. You are a wonderful young lady, and I’m glad you are now a part of our family.”

Kate smiled. “When do we need to have this ceremony, Kate asked?” Luna smiles with joy. “Tonight” Luna said. “It’s a full moon tonight and that’s when the ritual needs to happen. We need to have you both completing the ritual by the time the moon hits its eight packs, or it won’t work.”

“Tonight” Kate said. “That’s a little too soon, don’t you think. Luna smiled. “Yes, it might be too soon but you guys have already had s*x once. You are connected already, so we have to move quickly before something horrible happens to one of you or even both.” Kate started to freak out. “What do you mean before something bad happens? What is going to happen.” Luna then tells her to “calm down, you guys could end up turning into a wolf and not being able to turn back or one might die in the process of changing into a wolf.

Everything will be okay as long as you both do everything I say, do you understand. Luna asked Kate. I understand, and I will make sure James does to. Said Kate nervously.

They walked back to the pack. James seen Kate and his mother and walked up to them. He could see the nerves in her face when he got closer. “What is wrong Kate” James asked. “Can we talk, it’s important.” James started to worry. “I’ll give you guys some space to talk” Luna said as she walked away. “Okay Kate you need to tell me what is going on, you're starting to freak me out.”

Kate took a deep breath, “your mother told me everything you didn’t, I’m a little angry with you. You put both our life’s in danger. We have to do the ritual tonight or one of us might die because we have already been connected since we’ve slept together twice now. I’m not happy about this.”

James looks at Kate in shock. “I didn't know of the ritual, if I had, I never would have had my way with you. I’m so sorry, Kate.” James grabs Kate pulling her into his arms, holding her tight. Kate put her arms around him. “Your mother said we have to listen and do everything she says during it, and to take it seriously.” James looked at Kate, “if it’s that important than I will do what I’m told.” Kate smiles and hugged him tighter. “I’m glad you're going to take this seriously, that means everything to me.” Kate said with a smile.

Later that evening the pack gathered in the middle of the field getting everything set up for the ritual. Kate stood there watching as they sat it up, just like a wedding would be. Kate could feel her body start to tremble in nervous.

A younger lady came up to Kate. “Hi Kate I am Elizabeth, but the pack calls me Lizzy. I’ll be helping you get ready for the ceremony.” Lizzy said with a big smile on her face. “Thank you, Lizzy, I’m really nervous about this.” Kate said with a slight frown.

“Don’t be nervous, everything will be okay. You are marrying your mate, the man who makes you feel alive and feels safe. Lizzy told Kate. “What are you talking about, this wasn’t supposed to be a marriage.” Kate snapped at Lizzy. “Luna said she told you everything about the ritual.” Lizzy explained. “She told me that it was like a marriage, but she didn’t say it was one. Why do I feel like everyone isn’t telling me the truth.” Kate sat down and started to cry a little.

“Kate, are you going to be okay?” Asked Lizzy. “I don’t want you to be upset. I thought you knew everything.” Kate sat there and cried a little more. Then she looked at Lizzy, “I’ll be okay, I always planned that my sister would be at my wedding, and now I’m getting married, and she has no idea.” Lizzy sat down next to Kate and gave her a big hug. “I’ll be right back.” Lizzy told Kate.

Lizzy walked over to James and told him what was happening with Kate. “Lizzy, I need you to keep her occupied while I go back to the school and get her sister. It’s not far that no one told her the truth, including me, so I need to make this right, not for me but for her. She needs someone here that she knows and trust.” James gave Lizzy a sad look. “I got her, you go get her, her sister and I won’t tell her a thing.” James smiled and walked away.

Lizzy went back to the tent where Kate was at. “Ok Kate, let’s get you dressed and ready to go.” Lizzy said with glee. Kate looked at Lizzy and got up and started to get ready.

A couple of hours past, and Kate didn’t even know that James had left. As Lizzy was doing Kate’s hair, someone walked into the tent with them. When Kate turned she saw her sister standing there in tears, “what’s the matter jasmine, why are you crying.” Kate asked. “You look stunning, absolutely beautiful, Kate.”

Kate ran up and gave her sister a big hug. “Kate, why didn’t you tell me you were getting married?” Jasmine seemed confused and concerned about her sister. “I didn’t know until a few hours ago. But before I tell you everything, I need to ask if you will walk me down the aisle. Kate asked with a big smile in hope she will. “Of course I will, said jasmine. You're my sister, I would do anything for you.” Kate smiled.

Lizzy turned to Kate, “you're all ready to go Kate, you look stunning. It might not be a traditional wedding dress, but it looks lovely on you.” It was a short white dress with short lace sleeves and a long lace train going down the back, Lizzy put her hair up in loose curls with a beautiful Diamond hair clips that has been passed down from the female alpha’s over the years at their ceremony. Luna had given it to Lizzy to give to Kate.
