Rejecting My Alpha Mate

Chapter 9

SELINA'S POV

Our guests were already laughing because of what had happened. How was it possible that neither of us felt any pain after I broke our bond? I was certain he was my mate. If he wasn't, then who was?

"Is your little show over now, Selina?" Adrian asked with a smirk. Was it possible that the Moon Goddess didn't accept my rejection because I still didn't have my wolf? Did both my wolf and I have to reject him together?

Ellaine walked up to me and slapped me hard across the face.

"What are you doing? Have you lost your mind? You're embarrassing our family, Selina! Do you really think the Moon Goddess chose you to become the Luna of the Shadowfang Pack? That will never happen, not even in your dreams! What you did is humiliating!" she shouted angrily.

"No, this can't be." I whispered. What did Adrian do? Did he ask witches to protect him so he wouldn't feel anything if I rejected him? If he had already rejected me, then why did I still feel pain every time he slept with another woman?

"Beta Dante, what does this mean? Is your daughter trying to humiliate my son? Adrian is the future Alpha of this pack. Does your daughter really think she'll become the Luna of this pack?" I looked at Dad and the Alpha. He was furious because of what I had done.

"I'm sorry about this, Alpha. I'll talk to my daughter." Dad apologized. I shook my head. I couldn't let my family be humiliated tonight.

I walked toward Adrian and grabbed his hand tightly. He tried to pull his hand away from mine, but I only tightened my grip. I might not have a wolf, but I possessed a strength they knew nothing about.

"Let me go, Selina. Stop embarrassing yourself for the second time." he said.

"Selina, let him go! Stop convincing yourself that you'll become the Luna of our pack. You're only humiliating our family even more!" Ellaine tried to pry my hand away from Adrian's, but she failed. If my anger wasn't enough for the Moon Goddess to hear my rejection, then I would do it again.

"Moon Goddess, I repeat! I, Selina Montecarlos, reject you, Adrian Barcelon, the future Alpha of the Shadowfang Pack, as my mate! Moon Goddess, please hear me, I turn down this bond. This is where everything should end! Hear me, please! Even if you never give me a second mate, just accept and hear my plea! I don't want Adrian Barcelon to be my mate! I reject becoming his Luna!" I shouted with all my strength until my voice almost broke. The intensity of my anger reached the deepest part of my heart.

I let go of Adrian when a sharp pain shot through my chest. I didn't know if it was because I had rejected him and broken our bond, or because my true mate was sleeping with another woman.

"AHH!" I looked at Adrian when he suddenly clutched his chest as well. "Damn it! You b***h!" he groaned. He dropped to his knees, finally feeling the pain of my rejection. I endured the agony of our bond breaking while watching him suffer.

"Selina! What are you doing?!" Ellaine screamed angrily at me. She was about to charge at me again, but I dodged her and drove my elbow into her side.

"f**k you, b***h! Do you really think you'll ever have a peaceful life? I'll make sure you experience hell for the rest of your life!"

"Ellaine, that's enough!" Dad shouted. Alpha Kler and Luna Aimee immediately rushed over to their weakened son, Adrian. "Everyone, please go home. This party is over." Dad announced to all of our guests.

"The two of you, get inside the house." Mom said angrily before grabbing Ellaine and forcing her inside. Dad pulled me into the house as well.

"What is going on? Selina, why didn't you tell us you had already found your mate? You asked us to throw this celebration just so you could reject Adrian in front of everyone?" Dad demanded angrily. I remained calm.

"I hope you finally understand me now. See? She humiliated all of us in front of our guests! That girl is a traitor, Mom, Dad. I hope you finally wake up. As long as she stays in this family, she'll keep bringing us nothing but bad luck, and one day she might even kill all of us!" Ellaine shouted.

"Answer me, Selina. When did you find out Adrian was your mate?"

"You b***h! The nerve of you. Do you really think the Moon Goddess wants you to become the Luna of this pack? You'll never become the Luna of any pack, remember that! You're a thief! You stole Adrian from me. What did you do to him this time, you witch!"

"That's enough, Ellaine! I'm not a witch like you always claim. I don't use dark magic to get what I want. Because if I were a witch, I would've killed you a long time ago without anyone ever finding out what caused your death." I snapped back.

"Will both of you stop it already?!" Dad shouted, sounding completely exhausted from trying to stop us. "Selina, why did you do that? I understand that you don't like Adrian, but why did you reject your chance to become this pack's Luna?"

"Dad, do you even hear yourself?! You want that girl to become our pack's Luna?! I'm your daughter, I'm the only one who should become Adrian's Luna!" Ellaine shouted. Dad didn't even look at her. His eyes remained fixed on me, waiting for my answer.

"Because I don't want to be his Luna, Dad. He doesn't want me either, and instead of letting him keep hurting me every time he sleeps with someone else, I'd rather reject him and die without a mate." I answered firmly. Dad then turned to Ellaine.

"Were you the woman Adrian was sleeping with?" he asked her. Ellaine rolled her eyes and irritably shrugged Mom's hand off her arm.

"So you're choosing her again? Fine! Just make her your daughter instead since she's always the one you take sides with!"

"Take one more step, Ellaine, and I'll truly disown you as my daughter! I won't give you a single cent!" Dad threatened. He was genuinely furious. Dad had always been kind. He had never once yelled at either Ellaine or me since we were children. This was the first time I had ever seen him this angry. I didn't care anymore if my birthday had been ruined. It had never mattered to me in the first place.

"Dad!" Ellaine cried out in disbelief.

"From this moment on, if I ever find out that you're hurting or bullying your sister again, don't ever come back to this house. I also won't allow you to participate in the Mooncrest Trial anymore, do you understand me?!"

"Damn it!" Ellaine cursed before storming upstairs to her room.

Feeling completely drained, I sank onto the sofa. My chest still ached from the bond with Adrian finally losing its hold over me. This would be the last time I'd ever suffer because of him, so even if it hurt, I'd accept it. It would have hurt far more if my wolf had already awakened before all of this happened.
