SELINA’S POV
I was just about to enter the school when Adrian and his friends blocked my way again.
“You bastard, Selina. I will never forgive you for what you did to me.” Lee spat angrily. Were they still angry because I managed to hit them with all my attacks, or were they angry because I managed to escape and make it home alive?
“What do you want this time?”
“Do you really think you can escape from your hellish life? Until the day classes at Lunaris begin, we’ll make you experience what real hell is like. Do you think you can scare Adrian enough to have him removed from his position as the future alpha of our pack?” Jake said arrogantly.
I could only sigh. They were becoming arrogant again, thinking they could carry out their plan against me because days and weeks had already passed. The scent I had left on them was already gone, so I could no longer prove that they had tried to kill me.
I didn’t answer anymore and was about to leave when Adrian suddenly shoved me hard.
“Know your place, wolfless girl. Are you hoping to be chosen to study at Lunaris? That will never happen, not even in your dreams.” Adrian belittled me.
“I don’t know why I seem like such a threat to all of you. Are you afraid that I might make it to Lunaris?” They all burst out laughing at what I said, as if what I had said was nothing but a joke.
“Why would we be afraid of someone like you? Who are you anyway? You have no parents, you don’t even have a pack of your own, so why would we be afraid of you? If you manage to make it among those who will fight for the top 10 and I end up fighting you, I’ll make sure I kill you, so start praying now that you won’t be matched against me.” Adrian said with a smirk. I didn’t answer him anymore and simply walked past all of them.
I could still hear their laughter. Maybe I really was just lucky to have escaped from them, but if they planned to kill me again, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to escape a second time.
Adrian’s hatred toward me only grew after he found out that I was his mate. I chose not to think about their words and threats anymore. I needed to focus on the fights I still had ahead of me.
I was already in the arena when my name was called again. I didn’t know who I would be fighting this time. When her name was called as well, she entered the arena. She was a woman, and she was smiling as she looked at me.
Even I was already nervous, they had made it this far because they were good at fighting too.
“The famous wolfless girl. Let’s see how far you can go. Can you really match me? And if you manage to defeat me, I’ll kneel in front of you and kiss your feet.” She challenged me. I remained calm. The way she looked at me made it seem like she already wanted to kill me.
I slowly raised both of my fists, getting ready for any possible attack from her.
“Begin!” She immediately charged at me. Her movements were incredibly agile, and I was certain that I would have a hard time fighting her. She kept trying to reach my legs to throw me off balance, so all I could do was keep moving backward.
She immediately threw a high kick. I quickly ducked to avoid it, causing her foot to pass over my head. I tried to take advantage of that opening and punched her in the side, but she quickly blocked my punch as well.
She twisted my arm, but I followed the movement of her twist and turned with it before breaking free, but I hadn’t even recovered when she quickly struck me in the side, forcing me to stumble several steps backward.
She threw a series of punches at me, so fast that I could barely see them. She was incredibly fast, and if I got distracted even once, I was certain my body would hit the ground.
I quickly blocked every punch she threw at me. She suddenly spun her body and released a spinning kick. I used both of my arms to block it, but the force of her attack still pushed me backward.
She smirked at me.
“Not bad.” She said. She immediately charged at me again. I thought she was aiming for my head when she suddenly dropped herself toward the ground to sweep my legs. Before I could fall to the ground, she jumped and had already prepared her elbow to strike me in the stomach.
As I fell to the ground, I quickly rolled away, causing her elbow to hit the ground instead. She immediately stood up, and before I could even get back on my feet, she grabbed one of my legs. With all her strength, she lifted me and spun me around.
“f**k,” I muttered under my breath. I waited for her to let go of me. I could hear the crowd screaming as they watched us. They seemed to be enjoying seeing someone like me, a wolfless girl, finally meet her match.
If my head hit the wall, it would surely be the end of me. She let go of me when it seemed like she suddenly lost her balance, but even though that happened, my face still slammed against the ground.
She made me eat the dust. I could feel her following me, so I quickly turned around to see her. Her elbow was already prepared to strike my face, but I quickly blocked it.
She was furious.
“You’re only lucky because I tripped over my own foot. Otherwise, you’d already be dead.”
“You should have tried harder and not acted like an i***t, then you could have finished this fight already.” I answered her. She tried to reach my face, but I quickly rolled away from her and created some distance between us.
With her speed, she quickly caught up to me, lifted me with both hands, and threw me high into the air. Once she gathered enough force, she pulled me back down, and I could only groan when I slammed against her knee.
The entire arena erupted in cheers when she finally landed a hit on me. I ignored the pain and stood up because I was certain she wouldn’t let me escape from her.
She charged at me again, throwing a series of kicks at me that I could only block. She spun her body again and released another spinning kick. When I blocked her, I was pushed backward again because she was getting even stronger. Before my feet had even stopped sliding across the ground, she charged again and kicked me in the stomach, causing me to fall to the ground.
She was about to strike me with her elbow again when I quickly rolled to the side and took the opportunity to drive my elbow into her jaw.
When she seemed shocked by what I had done, I took the opportunity to kick her in the side as well, causing her to slam against the ground. The entire arena fell silent again.
When I felt blood at the corner of my lips, I wiped it away. I smirked at her as she stood back up.
“You’re strong.” She said, her expression becoming even more serious, as if I had now become a threat to her chances of making it to Lunaris.
“Of course I am.” I answered.
“AAAHHH!” She screamed loudly as she ran toward me. I charged at her as well, and we collided again. We exchanged punches and kicks one after another, neither of us willing to back down.
We kicked each other at the same time, causing both of us to fall to the ground. I coughed slightly, and a small amount of blood came out. I wiped my mouth again.
