Chapter 422019—late May
School was out, and heavy rains had caused everything to grow faster and taller. Rusty Sod had its crews working from early in the morning until late afternoon, six days a week, and Eric was looking forward to taking the Memorial Day weekend off—although it wouldn’t exactly be a holiday weekend—not with company coming. He’d finally heard from Philip Barnett, and after much discussion, the long-planned visit was almost at hand.
It was the Friday before Memorial Day, and Eric and Rusty had called an end to the workday around three. This gave him plenty of time to go home, have a quick shower and change, so he could go with Carlton to meet their guests. Because they were expecting four people, they took both of their trucks, and were waiting at the edge of the grass
