I wandered around my room, doing nothing in particular. I lay down and closed my eyes, wishing I could take a nap but my mind refused to go blank. Like a tape rewound several times, I kept playing the scenes at the restaurant in my head, trying to force myself to remember what happened after I got drunk. Kane's reluctance to tell me about it further intensified my curiosity. Kane was so unpredictable that he could actually have been telling the truth about me telling everyone who cared to listen that I loved him. I vowed to myself that I would never take that much alcohol which would make my brain fuzzy. Restless, I rolled around in bed disarranging the covers. I had to distract myself somehow.
