At the threshold, I stood undecided. The guard who already held the door open for me gave me a curious look. He had probably seen the scene between Kane and I. I could feel Kane's angry gaze burning the back of my neck. I didn't dare turn to see my father's expression and what he would make of my reaction. I was sure of one thing- he would not be pleased with me. The guard gently shut the front door apparently deciding I was going to stand there for a while. The sound of approaching footsteps decided me. I turned to see Kane and my father walking towards me, the guards who were carrying our bags behind them. I did not want to be in close quarters with Kane until I had gotten myself under control. Also, my father looked as if he had a lot of things- not nice- to say to me. He looked upset.
