Kane himself looked more than happy to see me too. I took in the sight of his perfect face once again. He closed the door softly and came to sit in the chair close to my bedside.
"I thought you had already gone to bed, Kane," I said, glancing at the clock.
It was a few minutes past 10. Kane however did not look as though he had been preparing for bed since he was still dressed in the same clothes from earlier. I could hardly believe that it had gotten this late so soon. I was exhausted before Kane came in but his presence had made me feel a flutter of excitement.
"And I thought you would be sleeping by now," he retorted. "Seriously though, you regained consciousness when? Today, right? I expected you to take things easy at least for today and for the rest of the week even."
