I woke up the next morning feeling disoriented. My temples throbbed with the beginning of a headache which I had not felt up till then because I had been asleep. The headache increased in intensity the more wide awake I got. The sun came out of the clouds just then, bathing my room in a strong radiant glow. The rays hit my eyes, and I squinted against the glare. I walked to the window and drew the heavy curtains, plunging the room into gloom. I walked unsteadily back to the bed and collapsed in it, drawing the covers up to my chin. I was having a hard time remembering what had happened last night. All I could remember was that Kane had taken me out to dinner and that I had too much to drink. All that transpired after was a blank. Trying hard to remember it only intensified the now sicken
