“Hey, Mom how are you both? I’m in Austin until tomorrow afternoon and have a couple of hours spare are you at home?” My mom almost screeches down the phone. Seriously, anyone would think I had moved to the North Pole and been away for two years plus. I hold the phone away from my ear.
“Yes, we will be in. Hold on a minute.” I hear her murmuring to my dad. “Dad will be here too. Come over as soon as you can? How come you are back already? How is the assignment going? Oh, never mind just get ready and come on over. I made a lemon drizzle cake, your favorite so that worked out well. I was just thinking about you.” Mom is talking ten to the dozen, I can imagine her flapping around now all excited.
