Maxwell's Pov It was a Monday morning, the environment at Gates Company buzzed with the normal routine of productivity. Dorathy, a hardworking secretary, was busy arranging her boss's schedule when an uninvited visitor disturbed the peace in the vicinity. The main entrance door was forced open, showing a woman whose face looked familiar. It was none other than my ex-wife, her presence caused commotion and tension. The other staff members had carried rumors of our awkward past , and Dorathy could feel the heat as the bad energy increased. My ex-wife, Olivia, was not bothered about how the staff members were staring at her as she barged into the reception area without any courtesy asking for access to my office. She was grieved and desperate to disrupt the tranquility of the office. "Where is Maxwell? I need to be in his office now." She shouted. "Good morning Ma." Dorathy greeted her "Keep your greetings, I said where is Maxwell!" She screamed with an angry countenance. In the midst of the challenging situation, Dorathy was calm and quiet. They had explained to her that such encounters could occur and the boss had given her instructions to follow. "Ma, unauthorized visitors are not allowed beyond this reception area without the approval from the boss," Dorathy said. This made my ex-wife very angry and pissed. She was fueled by desperation and frustration. "Are you okay at all? Do you know who I am? You are so dumb to think you can dare challenge me." Olivia said. She played many tantrums and used many tactics just to gain entry into office, Dorathy, unshaken, stood her ground, she showed an act of professionalism. She acknowledged the feelings of my ex-wife but was keen on the importance of respecting the rules and regulations that had been given to her. The argument became tougher as Olivia kept on nagging and screaming in the office environment, hoping that Dorathy would give in to her pressure and allow her to enter my office. As the drama unfolded, it was obvious that I had given Dorathy the responsibility of putting things in order and protecting the tranquility of the Gates Company. She handled the situation with wisdom, she got rid of the tension and maintained peace in the office environment. "So you won't let me in, right?" Olivia asked. "I'm sorry, I can't, I follow instructions given to me by higher authorities. Moreover, if I let you in, you are a threat to the safety of our boss with the way you are behaving," Dorathy said. "Really, look at this spoiled brat talking to me and telling me how to behave, what do you know about life?" Olivia said and laughed, a cynical laugh. All the attempts Olivia attempts to breach the office interior failed. This made her more frustrated and angry. However, Dorathy continued to handle the situation with wisdom, hammering on the importance of privacy and discipline in an office. My ex-wife, Olivia, finally left the office when all her efforts were null and void, as the office became calm and everyone went back to duty. A few moments later, I went to appreciate Dorathy for handling the situation in a wise way, as I requested to take her for dinner to appreciate her professionalism and kind gestures. "Thank you, Dorathy. I really appreciate you." I said with a smile. "You are welcome sir, I was just doing my job and following your instructions." "That's right. Can I take you out for dinner to appreciate you?" I asked. "Erm.. You really don't need to bother yourself sir." "I insist Dorathy, please permit me." "Okay sir." She finally agreed. After closing hours, I picked Dorathy up and we both left for dinner at Mambillah restaurant, a luxurious and expensive place. I was a billionaire CEO, and I won't hesitate to spend any amount on Dorathy. When we got to the restaurant, it was seen to be a serene environment with soft lighting and a soothing song playing in the background. As we sat down in our seats, Dorathy and I engaged in a little conversation. We put aside the pressure from work for the meantime. "How do you feel about this place?" I asked. "It's nice, I love it." Dorathy answered. "Hopefully, we'll get to be coming here regularly." I said with a smile as she smiled back at me. "You look good, by the way." I complimented her dress. "Thank you sir, you are not bad either." She said, looking at my clothes. As time passed by, Dorathy found herself carried away I our conversations. She laughed at my experiences as she also shared her own. The atmosphere was conducive, and we both enjoyed the closeness that had developed between us at that moment. In the midst of our discussion, she made an excuse to visit the restroom. When she got to the table, she found it hard to pass the narrow space between the tables as she slightly missed a step. I was always attentive and observant, so I quickly reached out and caught Dorathy, preventing her from falling. Our sudden closeness made us find ourselves in an unintentional romantic position. Dorathy and I looked at ourselves for a brief moment. My heart beat faster as our eyes met, both facial expressions showed that we weren't expecting it to happen. We stared at ourselves closely for a while. I moved my head closer to her as lips pressed on each other, then we kissed. It was then that other people burst into laughter and started clapping at the display. We quickly came back to our senses, we regained consciousness, as we went back to our seats. I realized that I was in love with Dorathy. How will I cope with business and pleasure? What will be the fate of Dorathy? And what will Olivia do when she gets to know? What will Dorathy do when she knows that I have a secret baby? I pondered on these thoughts as I drove Dorathy home.
