Chapter 52: Nolan Pierce July 7, 20— 11:39 A.M. Upstairs I woke wondering where I was. The room seemed familiar, but then again it didn’t. Sun bled into my eyes through three windows and disturbed my headache. My stomach ripped with fresh pain and my mouth was dry. I knew I had a hangover, but couldn’t recall achieving one the night before. Now I tried to sit up, but couldn’t. Instead, I lay on Jarr’s uncomfortable sofa, knowing that I was inside his apartment, having spent the night there. My cell phone rang in my front pocket. I pulled it out, looked to see who was calling, realized it was Richter, and decided not to take the call. Why bother? What a waste of time.
