The walk to her home was a daze. The high she was on from the afterschool events had barely tempered when she walk into her bedroom and crashed on her bed, face first.

As Kendall rummaged around the kitchen, Carl appeared in the kitchen frenzied.

‘’Did you just come home?’’ Kendall asked.

‘’Yeah, practice lasted longer than normal.’’ He mindlessly answered while looking for snacks in the fridge.

He grabbed a piece of cold chicken and ate it.

His eyes widened and brought his hand to his neck.

Dinner went the same boring way as any other. When she got back to her room, she saw that she had two missed calls and a text from Tina.

She had already decided that she would not tell her about the scandalous arrangement she had with the older man.

‘’What? You serious? Why did he want to see you then? He could’ve just given you the warning right then and there.’’

‘’Yeah, well he wanted to tell me that he was disappointed in me.’’ The lies were coming easier than Kendall would have liked.

‘’What a prick! Did he know what we were doing?’’

Tina’s outraged made Kendall laugh. She was a great friend which added to the guilt Kendall was feeling for lying. But she also knew that if Tina knew the truth, she would be on her case for her to stop and report him. This was too devious for Tina, she was almost certain of it.

‘’I don’t think he did but he knew that we weren’t talking about a project like I tried to tell him. Anyway, enough about the supervisor. Did you get your prize for winning, ya big slut?’’

‘’Haha!! Yeah, Hilary paid up. I’ll share the answers with you, of course.’’ She sounded smug.

‘’Of course, a queen has got to defend her title. I don’t know if the guys will be up for it though since we almost got caught.’’ Tina said more seriously.
