Chapter 23Kiku was there next to him, sitting on the edge of the bed. It was eleven in the morning when he opened his eyes and Danesh was half-afraid that it had all been a dream, but there she was, in one of those silky kimono-looking things that he wanted to pull right off her.
Her brow was furrowed, but she smiled as soon as he sat up, fully awake. He wanted to reach for her, but it didn’t feel right. “When did you get up?”
“It’s been a while. I need to go down and check on my parents.” She hesitated, “We check out at noon today so I was about to wake you. I wanted to say good bye.”
