CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR The afternoon passed by pleasantly, and in a few hours, we docked back at the pier. Bailey was waiting there for us to catch our line and guided us back into the berth. “Good timing, sir,” he congratulated us as he knelt on the edge of the planks and nodded toward the shoreline. “Yer horse is just about ready to give his cry.” I looked in the direction he indicated and noticed Ferox standing at the end of the pier. The horse was pawing at the ground and throwing his head to and fro. Castle laughed as he set the gangplank up and helped me across. “I’ll be sure to have Tully give him some extra grains tonight to placate him. And see to the rudder.
