I can feel his muscles bunch as he stands. I've learnt to play asleep. Keep my breathing even and make no noise. I'm trying so damn hard to keep playing this game so he can put me somewhere and leave me. I don't want to sleep alone in a bed I don't deserve and I don't want to feel like I have to be here but ... here I am.
Playing asleep. Is it the same as basically playing dead? Just with the breathing part?
"Nik" his father says and I dread this moment. My previous alpha, Owen, was a complete and utter rotten man to the core and I despised him with every ounce of self-worth I had.
