Nikolai's POV
“We play a nice game of hide and seek. I hunt, you hunt, and our warriors hunt. They hide and try not to s**t themselves. But right now I want a decent coffee and she's just left,” I say, getting out of my car and heading straight for the door to this small-looking place that I wouldn't have found had I not been looking at it.
I stop short when I don't feel Rem enter, and I turn to find his eyes a darker shade of brown, almost black, his hands clenched, and his posture as stiff as owt.
“You alright?” I ask him as I turn fully toward him.
“Mate”, he says, staring straight past me to the woman who has no idea what's happening. She's continuing with her day as if nothing is happening.
Not even a flicker of notice that Rem has gone full-on beta mode on her.
