Once again Patti went all out. She hired caterers and had the yard decorated for the occasion.
Maria had taken to Patti and Alicia immediately. The little girl was excited to help direct the set-up without fully understanding that she was going to be the star of the show. It wasn’t long before she and her brother were laughing and running around the yard.
“Peter, you have to get the children to settle down.” Patti was stressed that they would get their good clothes ruined before the adoption ceremony.
Dwayne chuckled. “Honey, your anxiety is showing. Everything will be fine. Think back to when our two were at their age.” He nodded towards their grandchildren. “They’re only doing what kids are supposed to do. Let the kids be kids for now.”
