Chapter 11
Barely two weeks after Cody came into their lives his nightmares began. Both Peter and Russell sat up abruptly at the shrill screams that filled the air. They scrambled to get to the bedroom and saw the boy flailing his arms and talking incoherently. Moe stood back, trying to figure out where the threat was coming from. Russell scooped the boy into his arms and held him tight. He gently rocked him, while softly telling him over and over, “Hey, Cody, it’s okay. You’re home and you’re safe, everything’s okay.”
Peter watched as Cody slowly calmed and relaxed in Russell’s arms. He knew he had to get an appointment for Cody as quickly as he could. He also looked at his partner. Russell also needed someone he could talk to, rant to, shout at about the unfairness of life, and finally
