Tacos

1042 Words
The lord above must not be on my side today.  Jax takes the tray and sets it in between us. He picks up a taco and begins to inhale it while I stick to eating slowly. Jax clears his throat and continues his grilling.  "Why did you choose New York? There are plenty of schools here that offer those same majors, and I'm sure there are plenty of people here that need that support too."  I don't know how I'm suppose to answer that. I mean, he's not wrong. But I chose to leave California. I chose to run from the pain and the daily reminders. But I can't tell him that. "Uh...I went with the school that had the best success rates. You know? More bang for my buck?" I lied.  Jax seemed to pick up on it. His body went stiff, holding another taco to his mouth. He flashed his eyes over to me, then a snort comes out of his throat. "You can lie to Niko, your mom, Zain and even Mari. But you can't lie to me Kita. I know you too well."  Now it's my time to snort. Who does he think he is?  "Oh really? First off, it's Nikita. Secondly, if you know me so well, then tell me. Why did I choose New York?"  He sips on his drink and clears his throat before looking back at me. He stares at me for a few seconds, either judging me or reading me, I can't tell.  "Well, Kita. I think you're running." Bingo. He was head on, but I wasn't going to tell him that. Instead, I snort. "No. You know nothing, as always." I pick up another taco and begin to eat it. Jax shakes his head, and begins chuckling. "No. Not always, Kita. I knew everything about you once."  Sparks ignite in my core. Not this again. Remember, we hate him! But isn't it always the ones we hate?  I try my best to calm myself, before I com-bust all over this folding table.  I take a chance and glance back at him. And there he was, the boy I fell in love with. His eyes were looking at me with amusement, the same amusement they held when we were up to no good.  Before I could stop it, a flash back rolled through my mind.  Six Years Ago:  "Jax! Where are we going!" I half yelled into the night. Jax was walking in front of me, but it was so dark, I couldn't see him. I reached my arm out, but felt nothing. I had started to panic. "Jax? Jax, where are you?" A sound to my left drew my attention.  Snickering. This ass is snickering at me.  "Jax! It is not funny. I can't see s**t!" I quicken my pace, trying to catch up to him. I stumble over some rocks and almost land on my face. Almost. At last second, Jax shoots his arms out and catches me. "Kita, be careful."  "I would have if you wouldn't have left me!" I say as I smack his arm. The cave we came into had minimal lighting, but I can still see his eyes light up as he smiles at me. "Well, I won't let you go now." My heart begins to race at his words. My words get stuck in my throat as he sets me back down on the ground, but he holds my hand. "This way Kita." He pulls me to the left and we begin to walk.  "Jax, where are we going?" He chuckles and speeds his pace a little. "Just a little further, I swear."  I roll my eyes but keep quiet. We walk maybe another five minutes before the cave opens up to the most beautiful view I had ever seen. The ceiling opened up, allowing us to view the midnight stars. Millions of little stars danced across the sky. Moonlight streamed through and reflected off the small lake at the bottom, casting a silvery glow across.  I could fell my mouth drop. "It's beautiful." He nodded his head and pulled me closer to the lakes edge. "W-what are you doing?" He stopped and looked back at me. "I didn't come all this way to look. Come on, let's go swimming."  Before I could protest, he picked me up and tossed me over on his shoulder. "AAAAAHHHHHH! Jax! Put me down!" I couldn't see anything except his ass. That tight, toned buttocks that looked quiet delicious. And when he didn't put me down, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I placed my hands on his thighs and braced myself. I dipped my head down and took a bite of his ass. "HEEYYY!!! That's my ass, not food!" He screamed. I couldn't help the laughter that bubbled out of me. "Well, I'm hungry. And you were shaking it in my face. So..." He chuckled and grabbed my legs. "Then, it'll be payback for this!"  Wait...NO! The next thing I knew, I was submerged in saltwater. I flailed my arms around, and pushed myself up. I stood up and let the water run over my face as Jax's laughter rang in my ears. "You. Are. An. Ass!" I yelled at him.  Instead of retorting back, he doubled over in laughter. He was holding his stomach and laughing so hard, it was contagious. I found myself laughing away with him, even at the expense of me looking like a drowned rat.  When he was finally able to stand up, he began stripping his shirt off.  Present:  He's come a long way from then. I used to think he was sexy then, with his skater boy built body, and shaggy hair. But now, boy. Sexy doesn't even define him now. I could feel the blush creep in from the memory. I quickly turned my head and continued to eat.  We continued to eat in silence for the next ten minutes. Jax had finished the six of his tacos and was waiting for me to finish mine. "So, what are your plans while you're here?" "Nothing. Go to to the wedding, but besides that, nothing."  He nodded his head for a few minutes.  "Then....go out with me tomorrow night."
