HAPPY OR NOT?

"Morning boss" I greeted my boss as I close the door behind me. —Gloria is my boss, she is a 42-year-old sophisticated lady, with many degrees and awards attached to her name. She has been working as the company's managing director for the past eight years and even though she is very jovial and accommodating, she can also be strict and exceptionally bossy sometimes. That aside, she is the best boss I've worked with, she has helped me a lot in my career in the past years and I hold her in high esteem, everyone in the office knows I look up to her so much—

"Morning Anna..." Gloria replied as she looks up "and you look so good" she said while I blushed a bit.

"Thanks, Gloria, you look good as always" I returned her compliment.

"Have your seat please, how did the meeting go last night? I didn't want to bother you with calls since I knew you'd be tired already, that's why I didn't call to check on you. She said very calmly in a soothing voice. Another amazing side to her is her calmness and her soothing voice, even when we, her staffs, mess up, she tries to remain calm no matter the gravity of the problem caused and she would never shout at any staff regardless of how angry or upset she might be.

"Well the meeting went well, we got the contract and he is coming in today to finalize the agreement," I said with so much fulfillment in me.

"Woaw that's so great Anna. Although I have to tell you, I was not expecting anything less. I knew you'd get it done. You are one of our top valued workers and you mean a lot to this company and me personally. She said.

"Thanks a lot, Gloria, that means a lot coming from you"

"Let me know when the client is around, I'd like to meet him," she said while still looking at me.

"Alright, I'd be in my office, I have some work to do," I said and made my way to the door.

"Oh Anna, happy anniversary, I heard from one of the interns that yesterday was your anniversary. I hope you had time to enjoy yourself amid the work. I wouldn't have given you such a task if I knew it was your anniversary.

"Oh no, it's fine, I'm glad it all worked out and I enjoyed my anniversary as well," I said and walked out. Tobe would be coming in in a few hours and for some reasons which I don't know, I'm eager to see him again.

"Knock knock," A voice said just before my office door flung open, it was Tobe, standing all tall and handsome. I looked at him from head to toe and quickly shook the feeling off as I rose to my feet and walked towards the door to invite him in.

"Morning Tobe, how did you find my office?" I asked as I stretched my hand forward to shake him which he brushed aside and hugged me instead.

"I asked the lady at the reception and she directed me here, you have a lovely office, Anna, everything looks well arranged and organized, just the way I used to know you then. He said and kissed my forehead while I just stood there not knowing what to say next or how to react to his obvious flirting.

"May I have a seat?" he asked as I snapped out of my thoughts

"Of course please, pardon my manners," I said while I pointed to one of the two chairs in my office.

"So can we get to work now, you have to sign some documents," I said as I start picking up some files from the drawer

"You have not changed a bit, why is it always work with you? I think we still have some catching up to do, don't you think? He said as he walks up to me and stands so closely behind me. I could hear the sound of my heart pumping blood into my arteries, he brushes my long curly hair aside and kisses my neck deeply. I was so dumbfounded, I knew it was wrong and I should stop it but I didn't. I enjoyed it and I allowed it, he noticed this and makes his way down to the slit of my skirt, he was about to dip his hand in my skirt when I came back to my senses and quickly moved away from him.

"Tobe please this is not what I need right now, I'm married and I have kids. You're here for business so let's face that" I said as I sat in my chair.

Tobe advanced towards me and sits by the edge of my table while he reaches for my hand and placed it on his.

"I am well aware of your husband and kids, you told me yourself but I believe everyone deserves to be happy especially you Anna, you are very beautiful and I find you attractive. Ever since I set my eyes on you in high school over seventeen years ago, I've been madly in love with you and that hasn't changed despite the years and distance. I'd like to make you happy if you'd let me. He said and kisses my hand.

"Well I can't remember telling you I wasn't happy but just so you know, I'm really happy, I love my husband so much and he makes me happy" I insisted but not so convincing.

"Anna, you and I know that's not true. You are not happy and it's written all over you. I was your best friend in school so I know you more than you can even imagine" He replied still holding onto my hand while I just smiled at him.

"Just give me a chance to bring back the "happy Anna", I will not do anything to hurt you or your marriage, I promise"

"I don't think I can do that Tobe, Daniel does not deserve such treatment. I agree that I may not be happy as I claimed but I'm trying to make things right. I'm really sorry but I can't give you that chance" I explained as I released my hand from his grip

"Anna you don't have to give me a reply now, take your time and let me know whenever you're ready. I'll still be here, waiting patiently for you." He said as he walks back to his seat

"So where are the documents? Let's get to work" He said all ready to work.

"Here they are, but you have to see my boss when you're done," I said as I handed over the documents to him.

After signing the documents, I took him to Gloria and saw him off after a brief introduction.
