LOST TO LUST

BEAUTIFUL MORNING

"Good morning mum" Patricia greeted as she hugs me from behind.

"How was your night, my love" I replied as I turn to face her and hugged her back.

"It was sweet mum, when did you get back yesterday? Patrick and I were so worried but dad said you had some work to finish up in the office" she said while still in my grip.

"Yes, dad was right. I had to finish some work in the office, I came back as soon as I could" I said as I placed a kiss on her head.

"Your hair smells nice" I chimed in as I couldn't ignore it.

"Thanks, mom" she mumbled with a smile.

"Why are you up so early?" I asked as I released her from my grip and continued with my cooking.

"I'm so hungry, it's as if I didn't have dinner last night so I came down to get some tea and cookie," she says as she opens the cookie jar, takes some cookies, and starts making her tea.

"I'm already preparing breakfast, you can go and finish your tea. I'd soon be done here and you can feed the worms in your stomach by then" I said and we both burst into laughter.

My kids are my joy, I love them so much just as I love their father, I'm always happy whenever I think about how good they turned out. Most people thought I wouldn't be able to raise them well since I was still very young myself, some even said it to my face. Daniel and I tried for a while to have one more baby but it just wasn't meant to be so we stopped trying and channeled all our focus and love into taking care of Patrick and Patricia.

"Can you wake your dad and Patrick and ask them to come down? breakfast is ready"

"Yes mum," Patricia said as she makes her way to our room to wake Dan.

"Morning Dad, she said as she jumps into bed.

"Morning my beautiful princess, did you sleep well?" He says as he drags her into him over the duvet and kisses her forehead.

"Yes dad, I slept well, mum wants you to come down, breakfast is ready.

"Woaw, that's quite fast, why are you up so early today," Dan asked as he rose up from bed.

"You and mum make it seem as if I sleep all day, it is not that early, I think you slept late instead. That aside, you won't believe it, dad, I woke up feeling so hungry this morning" she said with her eyes beam up with laughter

"You are gradually growing into a whale, you woke up hungry after gobbling down all that food last night" he teased her and they both laughed it up.

"I'll be down in a minute, I need to brush my teeth, he said and goes into the bathroom.

"Alright, dad" Patricia replies as she makes her way into Patrick's room.

"Up you go, you lazy fowl" Patricia shouts as he yanks the duvet off Patrick.

"What's up with you? Why are you so loud?" He says as he drags the duvet with Patricia.

"Breakfast is ready, mum wants you to come down right now" she replied still holding firmly to the duvet.

"I'm still sleeping, I will eat later," he said as he finally pulled the duvet from her.

"How won't you still be sleeping when you spent the whole night calling and chatting with Grace?

"That's none of your business, Grace is my girlfriend and I love her so much so you can either start accepting it that way or you keep your mouth out of my business," he said jokingly and winked at Patricia.

"You know I don't like her, she is not a good girl and she is even your senior. Can't you date another girl? Grace does not love you. I'm sure she seduced her way into your heart and I'm going to put her in her place very soon. She said with a stern voice.

"Is that jealousy I sense in your voice? You should get a boyfriend for yourself you know? It will save you all this stress and headache" he said as he gets out of bed, and drags Patricia to the living room with him.

— It's so funny how two people love would each other so much and yet fight so much. This is the case with Patrick and Patricia. They do almost everything together, Dan and I had to stop them from sleeping together in the same room when they wouldn't stop fighting and arguing all through the night. Although Patricia wants the best for her brother, she doesn't think any girl apart from herself and me, their mother, is good enough for him. So, she is always against his girlfriends and picks fights with them. Patrick started dating Grace, a girl in senior year and also a year older than he is. At first, Patricia was cool with them being together since she didn't see them going past a week but she started getting upset when the duo got serious so she sets herself on a pact to prove Grace not worthy of her brother —

"Morning mum, your royal highness, and happy anniversary once again. I guess we are still in the mood for anniversary hence the early and sumptuous breakfast" Patrick said as he kisses my cheek and begins to set the plates.

"Morning love" I replied to him and smiled.

"Patricia, what's wrong, did you get in a fight with your brother?" I asked her when I noticed her brooding face.

"No mum, we're fine, I just tried to make him see reasons why Grace is not good for him but he obviously has been bewitched by her," she says as she angrily bites into her bread.

"Morning everyone" Daniel greets as he pats Patrick gently on the back, winks at Patricia and moves over to my side, and kisses me.

"Morning babe," he said to me and sits.

"Morning dad, mum seems to be in a good mood this morning, I'm guessing you had something to do with it," he said and chuckles

"If I don't make her happy, who will?" He replied and they both laugh loudly.

"Ohh really, father and son ganging up against me". I said and sat beside Daniel.

"I forgot to ask last night, How was the meeting yesterday? Did you get the contract? Daniel says with his mouth half full.

"The meeting was great, and I got the contract," I said quickly while avoiding his gaze

"That's good, keep it up babe," Daniel said and continues eating.

—I feel guilty for not telling Daniel about Tobe. Since nothing physical happened between us, I felt there was really nothing to tell. We all finished our breakfast and went about our day. Daniel dropped the kids in school as usual and went to work while I also went to work but all through the ride, I kept thinking about how best to bring up the issue between Daniel and me without causing any damage.
