A LOVE FILLED WEEKEND

2000 Words
Good morning beautiful people, it's a beautiful sunny day. Everybody up, everybody moving, let's get this day moving. Dan announced loudly as he bangs the two steel trays on the table concurrently. This is Dan's usual practice on Saturdays', he doesn't go to work on weekends unless they have a big order or occasions at the restaurant like a big firm's meeting, or a food critic coming in, then he would definitely go to work to make sure things go flawlessly well. And even in cases like this, he would still schedule his time such that he gets to spend little time out of his busy day with us so he doesn't spoil or break the tradition. His manager runs the restaurant on weekends in his absence so he spends the day with the twins and me. As his practice, He wakes up early in the morning to prepare a sumptuous delicacy and as usual, would bang the trays or anything that could give out loud noise so the twins and I will be left with no other choice than to come running down to the dining room just so he could stop the clatter. And afterward, we would watch movies together all cuddled up. It was his way of connecting with the twins, he would ask them about the school, or anything that crosses his mind. The twins also love spending time with him as they all gist throughout the day, especially Patricia, she sticks to Dan all day long like a bone around a dog's neck, Patrick is more of the gentle type, he stays where he is asked to and doesn't disturb. As the wife and mother, I so much love it every DAMN time we are loved up. "Please just make it stop" Patrick and Patricia both yelled from their rooms. "Get down here if you want it to stop" Dan yelled back still banging the trays making even more noise than before. "You can never change babe," I said as I walked to the kitchen where Dan was. "You are damn right, I can not, and even if I could, I still will not change," he said as he drops the tray and lifts me up onto the cabinet top. "Good morning sunshine did you sleep well," he asked and kissed me "I sure did," I said as I winked at him and kissed him back "Ewwwwwww... Get a room please." Patricia said as she hugs Dan from behind. "Well, I think it may interest you to know that I spent the whole night in the same room with this beautiful lady" Dan teased Patricia as he kisses me again but deeply this time, while Patricia tries to pull Dan away from me. "Ohh... Please, you flatter her too much, dad" Patricia retorts as she successfully pulled me from Dan and hugs him tightly while hampering me from touching him. "You know it's the truth," I said back and made a funny face to spite her. "Don't let her get to you darling, you both are beautiful, she is my queen and you are my princess," Dan said "Ohh, please... Can we eat already?" Patrick says as he slams the table "Good morning to you too, Patrick," I said and kissed him on the head. "Morning mum, dad, big head" "How dare you call my princess a bighead?" Dan said jokingly to Patrick "He is the big head," Patricia said as she punched Patrick lightly on the shoulder before taking her seat beside him. (After Breakfast) "The food was really nice dad, you need to teach me some of your tricks, I tried making some of your signatures some time ago when you were not around and they all turned out really! really!! bad" Patricia said as she walks out of the kitchen just after doing the dishes. "Well... I'm not surprised. I mean, what do you really know how to do asides from teasing me?" Patrick said while laughing very hard "It's not like you know how to make any either" Patricia replies and jumps on him while smacking him with one of the throw pillows on the chair. Seeing them go at each other like that gives me goosebumps all over, aren't they so adorable? My own flesh and blood, with so much love between them. I don't know how my life would be without these my not so little priceless gems... "Babe, help me out here," Dan said while he laughs childishly as Patricia tickles him. That was when I looked around and saw the drama going on between father, son, and daughter, I was so deep in my thoughts, I didn't realize the fun had already started without me. "How is Grace, Patrick?" Dan asked as he turns down the volume of the movie. "Can we talk after the movie please dad?" Patrick replies with his eyes fixed on his phone. Looks like he was busy chatting with someone. "What are you saying lover boy, the movie is already over, and don't even think about pretending you don't know what I'm talking about cause your sister already gave us the tip of the iceberg" Dan quickly adds as we face Patrick ready to get the full gist from him. "Hahahaha..." Patrick chuckled, obviously he was blushing. "It's not a big deal really, it's just this big head forming ideas in your head" Patrick replies still blushing as he puts away his phone. "Just spill it out Mr. Lover boy," I said so eager to hear him go on about the love of his life. Patricia is known for her basket mouth in the house, she doesn't have any secret. When she hears or sees something, she doesn't rest until everyone knows about it as well. So right from when Patrick started talking to Grace, she already told Dan and me and she has been updating us on the process. "Hmm... Grace and I are seeing each other and I love her so much, I'm sure Patricia must have already told you that she is a senior and a year older. But I want you both to know that it doesn't matter to me, all I care about is the connection between us" Patrick said with so much passion "No no, all we care about is your happiness, the heart knows where it lies and belongs so if you say it's Grace, then it's Grace for us as well. We just want you to be happy, right babe?" Dan asked as he faced me and moved to the edge of his chair so he could be more close to Patrick. "Of course, your happiness is our priority, if Grace makes you happy then we are okay with her." I quickly chipped in while smiling at him. "She really does makes me happy" Patrick replied with so much certainty in his eyes. It was an emotional moment for me, it reminded me of when Dan and I started going out back then. We were literally madly in love with each other, everything was so perfect, we synced so well and I was fully convinced we were made for each other. "Patricia?? What about you? Are you okay with her?" Patrick asked "What do you care? It's not as if my opinions mean or carry any weight around here? She replied and turned away to the other end of the chair she and Patrick were seated on. "Of course, your opinion matter. You are my sister, I love you and I don't want to do this without you." Patrick said and moved closer to her. "Well, it's your life and you're free to date whoever pleases you. It's none of my business who you decide to go out with" Patricia said and walks out from the living room. "No, let me..." Dan said as he quickly signaled me to stay with Patrick while he goes after Patricia. "She will be fine," I said and moved to sit beside Patrick while patting his back. "Patricia, wait! wait!!" Dan calls after Patricia as he tries to get her to stop. "Dad, I'm fine. I have nothing against them" she said as she flung open her room's door and sits on the bed. "No, you are not fine darling and it's okay not to," Dan said as he hurried in after Patricia, draws the chair from her dressing stand in her direction, and sits in front of her. "You see... I understand where you are coming from... Do you know your mum and I tried to have one more child, but we couldn't?" Dan asked as he paused so she could answer. "Oh really... No, I wasn't aware, I'm so sorry dad" Patricia replies with remorse. "No, you don't have to be, it's a long time ago and we didn't dwell much on it because you both are more than enough for us. You and Patrick share a really strong bond, you have had each other since you were little, now having another girl come into the picture seems like you will be benched. But trust me, your brother is a good person, he is not like that, he would never sideline you. No matter what, you still remain his first love." Dan said and held her folded hands. "Dad, you don't understand, that Grace of a girl does not love Patrick. I'm sure she seduced him and definitely has an endgame, or how else would you explain a senior falling for a junior if there is nothing in play? You don't have to worry, I will prove it to you all and expose her. I have a plan" Patricia let out with so much anger and resentment. "Darling, who is feeding you all these ideas, age doesn't matter when love is at play. The heart does not discriminate and once you're in love you forget all about the other person's baggage, you just want to be with them. Your brother loves that girl and I'm sure she also saw something in your brother that attracted and won her. Be happy for your brother, you mean a lot to him and the least you can do is support him. So do me a favour, why not turn all this anger into love and try to get to know Grace, let's give her the benefit of doubt." "But she's going to take my place" Patricia replies as she starts crying. "Come here..." Dan said as she pulls her to him and hugged him. "No one can ever take your place in Patrick's heart. Your bond goes way more deep than that." He said while still holding her tight in his embrace. "You can invite her over next weekend," Patricia said as she hugs Patrick from behind the chair we were seated on. Dan was standing beside her and smiling while he stood and watched them together. "Thank you, I love you so much and it really means a lot to me," Patrick said as he kisses both her hands which were hung on his chest. "No one can ever dream of hurting me with a fierce soldier like you guarding my heart" Patrick teased her and we all laughed it off "Awwwwwwn... They both are so adorable. I said quietly to myself. We all hugged and cuddled for a while before Dan offered to take us out to a spot he just found in town. According to him, one of his female workers celebrated her birthday the previous week and they all went to the spot so he wants us to enjoy the place too which in his words is an "unwinding spot". We had an amazing day out, with few clicks of pictures. It was one of the numerous times I feel lucky to have such a sweet family. After a few rides around town sightseeing, we went home with a box of pizza which we devoured at home before going to bed.  !!!WHAT A LOVE-FILLED WEEKEND!!!
