PROLOGUE

250 Words
“Run, Amanda!” My father’s voice roared through the night. But my legs betrayed me. The limp dragged me down, every step a battle as the ground trembled beneath my feet. The air reeked of blood and decay, thick enough to choke me. Then the world darkened. A shadow swallowed the moonlight. The rogue Alpha stood before me, his grin sharp and cruel. “You’re mine, little healer.” His voice slithered into my bones, and in that instant, I knew—if he took me, I would never come back whole. I was born the Beta’s daughter. But that never made me safe. Not when my silence branded me weak. Not when my mother couldn’t look at me without shame. They said sending me to the Academy of the Moon was to protect me. The truth? They just didn’t want me. I thought I could hide there. Fade into the shadows. But the rogue Alpha found me. He whispered that I was the key to raising an army of the dead… and that he would take my power, even if it killed me. My mate might be the only one who can save me—if he doesn’t despise me like the rest of them. What if he rejects me? What if he hates me? I can’t afford to be weak anymore. I must become stronger. I will become stronger. And then— “Mate.” The words rumbled behind me, deep and dangerous. And my world shattered.
