Serena’s POV
The side of Adrian’s jaw began to tick in irritation, as if warning me to play along. You can only irritate a brooding man so much in one night. A pleasant smile graced my face, “Yes we can.” I said placing my hand in his as he helped me from the car.
When I stood beside him, he placed his hands around my waist dragging me to him. I smiled stiffly as he led me to the entrance of the house, where his mum stood watching us like a hawk.
“Oh my darling Adrian.” she gushed as she ran to embrace her son, subtly pushing me to the side. I quietly moved aside as I watched their interactions.
“I have missed you my love,” she said as she moved for another embrace. Adrian reluctantly hugged her.
“We had dinner last week mum, you are acting like you've not seen me in ages,” Adrian
