The flickering scented candlelight cast a soft and romantic glow over the cozy spot in the corner of the restaurant where Mia and Eric peacefully shared a table for two. They exchange romantic yet meaningful stares with full of sparks in their eyes, their silent exchanges were filled with unspoken desires and longing as they enjoyed the intimate surrounding of the restaurant.
With every sip of their wine and every shared glance, the tension between them were undeniable. It's like a magnetic pull that draws them even closer together. Mia's heart raced as Eric reached across the table to gently caress her hand, sending shivers of anticipation down to her spine.
"I've been dreaming about this romantic moment all week, Mia." Eric whispered with a low and husky voice as he leaned closer to Mia.
Mia's breath caught in her throat by his words. Her cheeks flushed with a deep rosy-red blush as she met his gaze.
"Me too." She confessed, her voice barely more than a whisper as she caressed Eric's face and leaned closer for a romantic kiss.
Their kiss was so tender yet passionate, adding fuel to the fire that is burning between them. After they kissed, Eric stood up and took Mia's hand for a romantic slow dance. As they began to sway to the soft and romantic music playing in the background, Mia gently rests her head on Eric's shoulder, feeling every beat of his heart. As Eric holds her close, his gentle touch sending shivers down her spine. They glided across the floor with effortless elegance, lost in the music and the intimacy of the moment, as if the time has slowed down just for them. The atmosphere was filled with romance and the warmth of their connection. While swaying, they felt like the world around them fades away, leaving only the two of them wrapped in each other's embrace. Their bodies pressed together in a dance of love and desires.
After dinner, they went straight to the hotel nearby the restaurant. Their hearts pounding with anticipation as they entered the dimly lit room. As Eric closed the door, he slowly walked towards Mia, hugging her from behind and started kissing her neck. When Mia turned around to face Eric, they started kissing slowly until they both lay down on the bed of roses. With each touch and each caress, they made their night burning with love. Their bodies became union together in a symphony of passion and pleasure.
In the soft glow of the lampshade, they surrendered to the heat of their desires. The relaxing romantic instrumental music and their lovemaking were the only sound in their cozy room. Time seemed to stand still as they lost themselves in each other. Their hearts and souls become one in their magical and romantic night together. Lost in the deep feeling of their love, their bodies moving as one in a dance of intimacy and connection that go beyond words. After making love, Mia and Eric were wrapped up in each other's arms, talking about what lies ahead for them in the future.
Nathan was sitting uncomfortably on the sofa. His eyes were just fixated on the doorway, waiting for Mia to arrive. He can feel the heavy air in his lungs filled with anticipation, filled with unspoken words between them. Every tick of the clock, Nathan's mind replayed the events of the past few days, each piece of evidence pointing towards Mia's betrayal. He couldn't shake the feeling that Mia had done something very worst that broke him down into pieces. He couldn't believe the fact that the girl he loved the most was the one who shattered him.
Finally, after four and a half hours of waiting, Nathan heard a car pull up outside and a noise of shutting a car door close. Nathan's heart was pounding as he heard Mia's footsteps towards the door. The door creaked open and Mia went inside with a very inspired look on her face. As she turned on the light, she was very shocked to see Nathan. Her expression was a mask of surprise and guilt as her eyes landed on Nathan sitting on the sofa.
"Nathan?! What are you doing here?!" Mia said as her eyes were widened in shock and her voice wavered slightly, betraying her unease as she took in the sight of him.
Nathan's heart clenched at the sight of her, his longing of her conflicting with the doubts that filled in his mind and heart. He rose from the sofa, a mixture of relief and a mix of emotions were flooding through him. As he moved towards her, ready to kiss and hug her, Mia's reaction was not what he expected. Instead of rushing into his arms out of excitement for arriving home, her movements were hesitant, her eyes avoiding his eyes. Nathan could really tell by the look on Mia's face that she was not happy to see him.
"Mia, what's wrong, my love? Aren't you even happy to see me?" Nathan asked as he was trying to hold back his tears.
"Nothing... Well, yeah, of course. I'm happy to see you." Mia said coldly as she couldn't even look at Nathan directly into his eyes.
Nathan could really tell that Mia was only forced to answer him.
"Are you sure, my love?" Nathan said as he took a step forward to touch Mia.
"I told you! Everything is fine, Nathan! Nothing is wrong, okay?!" Mia yelled as she took a step back.
"What's going on, you two?" Mia's mom asked as she went downstairs to check on Mia and Nathan. "Nothing, mom!" Mia said in an angry tone.
"Honey, aren't you even excited to see Nathan, now that he is here? What happened to you, sweetie? You always get excited whenever Nathan comes home. Baby." Mia's mom said with a confused look on her face.
"I hate this surprise, mom! You should have called or texted me before coming home, Nathan! Geez!" Mia said as she aggressively scratched the back of her head. "Okay, I'm sorry, my love. I should have let you know sooner. Anyways, where have you been? It's 12:24 AM already." Nathan asked as he was trying to catch Mia with her first lie, now that Nathan is there.
"Emma and I went out on a movies and went to our friend's house." Mia said while trying to avoid eye contact.
"Alright my love, did you..."
"You know what Nathan, enough of this chit-chat, okay?! I... I'm so exhausted. It's been a long day. Now, I gotta head upstairs, wash up, and take a rest. Good night!" Mia rudely said as she didn't let Nathan finish to what he was saying. Her hands were trembling as she was avoiding conversations with Nathan.
Her response only deepened the knife in his heart, the pieces of the puzzles clicking into place with a very painful clarity. He was very determined to uncover the truth, no matter how hard and painful it is for him.
As Mia went upstairs, they can still hear the echo of her heavy footsteps, leaving them both in shock by Mia's behavior. Mia's mom and Nathan exchanged worried glances, both unsure of how to process Mia's sudden outburst. Later that night, after Mia had washed up and prepared for bed, she heard a soft knock on the door.
"Mia, are you still awake?" Nathan said in a soft voice.
"What do you want?!" Mia yelled.
The door creaked open slowly, revealing Nathan standing in the doorway. His expression was a mixture of uncertainty and worry to ask Mia if he could sleep in her room.
"What?! Mia said as she raised one eyebrow, waiting for Nathan to say something.
"Uhm, Mia? Do you mind me sleeping here in your room?" Nathan hesitantly asked.
"Why here?! Can't you sleep on the couch downstairs?!" Mia said in an angry tone while pointing on the floor.
"Aunt Melissa told me to sleep in your room." Nathan said as he nervously smiled.
"Mia! Don't be rude! What has gotten into you?! Why have you been acting this way?! I told Nathan to sleep in your room so you two can talk and have some time together." Mia's mom interrupted. "It's okay, Aunt Melissa. I don't mind sleeping on the couch." Nathan said with a deep sigh while trying to hide the sad look on his face.
"No! No one is sleeping on the couch. Mia! This is my house so you agree by my rules! Do you understand that?! Nathan will be sleeping here in your room!" Mia's mom raised her voice at Mia.
"Fine!" Mia said as she rolled her eyes and aggressively laid down.
"I'll just sleep on the floor, Aunt Melissa. I don't want to be bothering Mia by sharing in her bed." Nathan said.
"But Nate..." Mia's mom said with a worry look on her face.
"It's really okay, Aunt Melissa. I don't really mind sleeping on the floor." Nathan said as he painfully insisted to sleep on the floor.
Mia's mother finally agreed and respected Nathan's decision to sleep on the floor. Mia's mom left the two alone in the room for privacy. With the room now theirs, Nathan busied himself arranging his makeshift floor bed, pillows, and a blanket to finally lie down and take a rest. Meanwhile, Mia was lying down on the far side of the bed, facing on the other side, not saying anything to Nathan.
As Nathan settled onto the floor, staring at the ceiling, he couldn't help but cry thinking of Mia's behavior and cold treatment to him.
As Nathan noticed that Mia was already asleep, he was unable to resist the pull of his emotions. He quietly rose from his place on the floor and approached her side of the bed. He gently lowered himself to her level, watching her sleep with a very heavy heart full of complicated emotions. With trembling fingers, he slowly caressed Mia's face as tears slipped down silently on his cheeks, unable to contain the pain inside his heart.
"I love you so much, Mia... You were my whole life... I never loved anybody else but you... H-How? How can you do this to me?" Nathan whispered as he kept caressing Mia's face, while his tears were falling down uncontrollably.
When Mia moved, Nathan immediately fell on his knees and quickly crawled back to his makeshift floor bed. As Nathan got back to his makeshift floor bed, he pulled a pillow close, clinging to it tightly, seeking comfort from its softness. He let his tears flow quietly, each drop carrying the weight of his struggles. Nathan surrendered to the heaviness of his burdens until he cried himself to sleep.
As the sun painted the sky with a golden yellow morning light at 8 AM, the sound of Mia's buzzing alarm gently woke her up. Ignoring Nathan's presence on the floor, she quietly grabbed her phone and slowly made her way downstairs for breakfast, not even having any considerations waking Nathan up to eat breakfast with them.
"Good morning mom." Mia greeted her mom with a genuine smile as she went downstairs. The warmth of the morning spreading through the cozy kitchen.
"Good morning too, honey. Please, sit down and eat." Her mom returned the greeting, inviting her to sit down and eat.
While Mia was seated at the breakfast table, she engaged in casual conversation with her mother while tapping out messages to Eric at the same time.
"Oh hey, honey? Where's Nathan? Why he hasn't come down and joined us for breakfast?" Mia's mom asked as she noticed Nathan's absence at the breakfast table.
Mia shrugged her shoulders with a hint of a lack of interest in her voice as she replied, "Maybe he's still asleep." before returning her attention to her phone.
Mia's mom got slightly irritated by Mia's behavior. Mia's mom realized that it's still early in the morning to argue with Mia, so she just simply chose silence over confrontation that leads to an argument. With a sense of a motherly concern, she left Mia at the breakfast table and went upstairs to wake Nathan. Determined to bring him down for breakfast and make sure that he won't miss the morning meal that she prepared for them.
"Good morning, Mia" Nathan's hesitant but warm greetings to Mia as Mia's mom and him went downstairs.
Mia raised her eyebrows as a response to Nathan's greetings. She only raised her eyebrows without even saying anything and without having any eye contact with Nathan. As Nathan sat down and began eating breakfast, Mia's question cut through him like a sharp blade.
"Mom? Will Nathan still sleep in my room tonight?" Mia said directly at her mom.
"Of course, Nathan will still be sleeping in your room tonight. Where else he could be sleeping?" Mia's mom replied.
"Why?! Can't he just stay at a hotel or something?!" Mia suggests with a hint of insult.
Mia's mom was about to react by Mia's unpleasant behavior. But just as Mia's mom was about to react, with a calm yet firm decision, Nathan simply stood up and agreed to stay at a hotel before causing an argument between Mia and her mom.
"No, no. It's fine, Aunt Melissa. Mia's right. I can stay in a hotel if that gives her a peace of mind and prevent further disagreement between you and Mia." Nathan said while trying to hold back his tears.
Nathan left the breakfast table and went upstairs, leaving Mia speechless. Mia's mom went after him and begged him to just ignore Mia and stay. With his belongings in hand, Nathan made his way downstairs. Mia's mom trailing behind him, begging for him to please reconsider. But Nathan remained firm, carrying his suitcase and bag, very determined to honor his decision.
"Uhm hey, Mia. I, uh, I have to go. I, I will be texting you the name of the hotel, and if, if ever you change your mind, my door will always be open for you to come and visit me. I, uh, I love you. Bye!" Nathan said with a trembling voice.
Nathan waited for Mia's response but Mia didn't even respond. She pretended like she never heard anything.
"Mia!" Mia's mom raised her voice at her for not saying anything.
"Bye." Mia said as she raised her eyebrows without even looking at Nathan.
As Nathan stepped into the waiting taxi, the weight of the situation finally hit him. Tears welled up as he thought about the old and new Mia. As he finally entered his hotel room and finally closed the door, the weight of the situation crashed down on him, tears streaming down his face as he prayed for guidance, longing to find a way back to the Mia he missed.
