On Monday morning after their one-week break, Mia anxiously waited for Eric at the school gate to finally end things between them. Mia just stood there waiting for Eric for one and a half hour, but Eric did not show up. Days went by, and Eric still did not come to school. Mia's mind was filled with wonders about Eric. She kept wondering where Eric was and what could have happened to him. Mia found it hard to focus on her classes, staring blankly at the board but not really absorbing anything. Every minute, she looked back at Eric's empty seat and her imagination are playing tricks on her mind, making her feel like Eric was there. Her heart sank as sadness and longing filled her.
On Saturday morning, Mia gathered up all her courage to go to Eric's house to find out what had happened to him. As she walked towards the door, her palms began to sweat and her heart raced with anticipation. As she rang the doorbell, she could feel her hands trembling. When the door opened, Mia was surprised to see Eric's mom, Mrs. Erica Johnson, open the door instead of Eric himself.
"Oh, hi Mrs. Johnson. Good morning." Mia politely greeted Eric's mom.
"Oh, hello there! Good morning too, young lady. How may I help you?" Mrs. Johnson said, with a very sincere smile on her face.
"Oh God! Where are my manners? I'm so sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Mia Wilson, Eric's classmate, and um... Mrs. Johnson, if you don't mind me asking, I would like to ask how is Eric doing and why he has been absent for one week straight after our semester break?" Mia nervously asked about Eric while trying to catch her breath.
Mrs. Johnson invited Mia inside and offered her a seat, while she prepared a glass of water for Mia. As they sat down, Mrs. Johnson explained what had happened to Eric. Mia's eyes widened in shock when she knew that Eric had been admitted to the hospital due to break bone fever.
"M-may I visit him?" Mia said with a trembling voice while trying to hold back her tears.
With a kind heart, Mrs. Johnson agreed and she offered to give Mia a ride to the hospital since she was about to go to the hospital to visit her son. Mia's heart raced with excitement as she accepted the offer, and eager to see Eric and make sure he was okay.
While they were on their way to the hospital, Mrs. Johnson couldn't help but ask Mia if her son Eric was seeing someone special. She had noticed that Eric had been sporting a continuous meaningful smile since the very first day of class, and in the past few weeks, he had been more happy, inspired, and very in love than she had ever seen him before. It was a sight that warmed Mrs. Johnson's heart, especially since Eric had been struggling to find happiness ever since the sudden loss of his father in a tragic accident. Mia gulped as she was taken aback by Mrs. Johnson's question. Mia simply explained that she didn't know much about Eric as they didn't talk much and that she haven't heard any rumors about him having a girlfriend.
As Mia and Mrs. Johnson arrived at the hospital, Mia's heart was pounding with excitement as she was gonna see Eric. They went straight to Eric's hospital room and as they entered, Mia's heart melted when she saw Eric lying there in the hospital bed, sleeping. His face looked so pale and fragile. Mrs. Johnson left for a while to buy breakfast for Mia and Eric, leaving the two alone in the room. Mia slowly walked towards Eric's bed, trying not to wake him up, but when she finally reached his side, she couldn't help but cry while holding Eric's hand.
"Eric, please wake up. I'm here." Mia said in a soft voice as her tears were rolling down her face.
Mia held Eric's hand tightly, hoping that he would wake up soon. Mia continued talking to Eric, telling him all about the things that had happened since the last time they met. While she was talking, she couldn't stop her tears from falling. Mia tenderly stroked her fingers on his forehead, and she gently pressed her lips against his cheek, making him feel her presence, love, and care towards him.
"M-Mia?" Eric said groggily, trying to open his eyes fully.
Mia's heart skipped a beat as she heard his voice.
"Oh, Eric, you're awake. I'm here Eric. I'm here." Mia said as her voice choked with emotion, and she hugged Eric tightly and kissed him on his forehead.
Eric's eyes were still blurry from sleep, but as he saw Mia's face, a smile immediately formed on his lips.
"Oh, Mia. I'm so glad that you're here. I missed you so so much!" He replied with a teary eyes.
Mia and Eric caught up with each other and talked about everything that had happened since they last met, and they were overjoyed to see each other. While they were talking, they held hands and deeply looked into each other's eyes. Later on, they fell silent, their gazes locked in a wordless exchange filled with full of love, affection, connection, and understanding. Eric slowly caressed Mia's face, gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, and he slowly leaned in and gently kissed Mia. Just as they parted, Mrs. Johnson walked in the room, and they were both surprised that Mrs. Johnson almost caught them kissing.
"Oh, sorry. Am I interrupting something?" Mrs. Johnson said with a big teasing smile on her face.
"Mom! Don't you know how to knock?!" Eric said as he was looking at his mom awkwardly.
"Mm-hmm? Okay, okay! Yep! Sorry, baby. Hehe! Here's the breakfast I bought for you two. You two enjoy your breakfast. Eric, honey, I'll be outside, okay? I'll give you two some privacy." Mrs. Johnson said she felt extremely happy seeing her son very happy around Mia.
"Thank you, Mrs. Johnson!" Mia said with a cute smile on her face.
Mrs. Johnson smiled and slowly nodded as she was about to leave the room, giving Eric and Mia a moment to themselves. They shared a shy giggle, feeling relieved that the moment of awkwardness had passed.
After Eric's release from the hospital, Mia and Eric found themselves drawn to each other like magnets. Every moment apart felt like an eternity, and they seized every opportunity to be together. Their days were filled with spontaneous adventures, going on fun and crazy adventures, watching movies, having candlelight dinners, star gazing, kissing under the moonlight, having road trips, dancing under the stars, trying new and fun activities together. Each new experience deepened their bond as if fate itself had woven their paths together. Their time together was a whirlwind of excitement and discovery, with each day bringing new adventures and shared experiences. They both had a great time together.
Mia marveled at Eric's resilience and kindness. His laughter lighting up her world like a ray of sunshine and a shining light in the dark. In his arms, she felt safe and cherished. Her heart was filled with overflowing gratitude for Eric's existence in her life. Eric, in turn, found comfort in Mia's presence, unshakable support, and contagious craziness. Her presence breathing new meaning into his life. As their relationship blossomed, they discovered more common interests and passions. They established a deeper emotional, intellectual, and spiritual connection with each other. They shared their dreams and aspirations, laying bare their vulnerabilities and fears, yet finding strength in each other's embrace.
Together, they planned to conquer the highs and lows of life, finding comfort in the knowledge that they were not alone in facing the challenges that lay ahead. But, in the middle of the excitement and happiness of their growing romance, whispers of doubts and uncertainties lingered in the corners of their minds. They knew that love alone could not shield them from the uncertainties of the future, and that they would unavoidably face trials that would test the strength of their bond.
Yet, in the glow of their shared affection, they chose to embrace the present moment, enjoying each fleeting second as if it were their last. For Mia and Eric, love was not just a feeling, but a journey. A journey filled with twists and turns, triumphs and setbacks, but ultimately, a journey that is worth taking together.
