CHAPTER 16
OLIVIA POV
After the call with Alessandro, I had a fun night with Jaden before putting him to bed. His night was made, and he slept happily; he was still smiling in his sleep. I don't blame him—he has gotten very close to Alessandro and loves Andro so much. After putting my kid to bed, I made my way to my room, as I still had some documents I needed to go through before bed. I needed them checked before tomorrow when Williams would need them. It took me a couple of hours to do that before I finally went to bed.
The next morning, my alarm woke me up at six AM. I had two hours before rushing to work, so I quickly dashed to the kitchen to make some honey pancakes for everyone. By the time Jaden woke up, his breakfast would be served. He loves eating early. Once I was done, I quickly took a bath; I was running out of time, and since Williams wouldn't be coming to the office early today, I had to represent him in meetings with two important clients. I was kind of nervous; these people weren't just ordinary individuals. One was a billionaire from the upper class, and I had heard she was always very rude and sassy just because her family was wealthy. The second was a well-known pop star in the country. Honestly, I wanted to do my job, but this? I'm not sure I'm well prepared to face them. I wonder why Williams left such an important task to a novice like me.
After I finished bathing, I quickly dried off and applied lotion before moving to my closet. I scanned my wardrobe for something fashionable yet professional. I needed to look my best, even if I didn’t want to. After a long search, I finally settled on a tailored navy blue blazer that showed my curves nicely, and I paired it with a white blouse that complemented the look perfectly. As I walked in front of the mirror, I let out a silent sigh, feeling more confident. Next, I slipped into a pair of black pumps that added just the right amount of height to make me feel secure about my stature. Taking another quick glance in the mirror, I smiled.
Damn. I look good. I wanted to rush out, but I paused; my hair was still damp. I quickly styled it into soft waves and let it cascade down my back. I opted for light foundation and red lipstick to complete the look before grabbing my bag to leave. I walked into Jaden's room and quickly planted a kiss on his cheek before heading out. At the bus stop, I prayed to get a cab going to the company. It took me a few minutes, but I finally got a cab, and in no time, I arrived at work. Heaving a deep sigh, I made my way inside.
I walked through the corridors and greeted the receptionist before making my way into Williams' office. Damn, I had a lot of work to do to update my portfolio. I dropped my bag on the chair and reached for the cupboard where the files were. I needed to sort this out before any of those clients arrived. Williams had personally warned me about how overbearing they could be, so right now, I was ready for the worst. I flipped through the pages of the files, taking note of what was what. I couldn't afford to mess this up—not now that I needed to update my CV to outshine Samantha and Lucas in their petty games. Those two? I had plenty of crazy plans to make them kneel and beg for my mercy.
Not that I would actually give them mercy, even if their knees were bleeding and they came to me, but I wanted to see those two bastards pay for what they had done to me. The thought of them and what happened in the attorney's meeting made my blood boil with anger. I regretted only slapping that asshole; I wished I had given him at least two!
I pulled my hair back to clear my view and see what was written on the file.
Minutes later, I checked the time—it was less than ten minutes until I would receive them. I went into the hall and inspected everything to ensure all was in order. This was one of the firm’s top five clients, and he was letting me handle it just like that? My lips curled into a smile as I made my way out, excited to meet whoever was coming first. As I stepped out of the hall, one of the interns walked up to me, a small smile playing on her lips.
“Hello, Olivia,” she said. I turned to her.
“I think you have a visitor waiting for you out there.”
I smiled in response before walking outside. It must be one of them. My heart began to race, and a wave of nervousness washed over me as I strolled downstairs. But as I approached the receptionist's table, my gaze narrowed, and I froze immediately.
“Alessandro?”
Oh my god. What is he doing here?
