Chapter 9 – The Royal Heir & The Broken Alpha’s Tears

803 Words
The Royal Healer arrived at dawn. An ancient woman with silver hair down to her waist, eyes glowing the same crimson as my guards’ capes. She bowed so low her forehead touched the marble. “Your Majesty. The child is ready to reveal itself.” Ryan held my hand as we walked to the healing chamber—an entire room made of moonstone that amplified every heartbeat. I lay on the velvet table, silk robe pulled up just enough to expose the now-obvious bump. The Healer placed both palms over my belly. Silver and crimson light swirled together, forming a perfect full moon above us. A heartbeat echoed—strong, fast, royal. “It is a girl,” the Healer announced, voice trembling with awe. “And she carries both bloodlines. Crimson Moon flames and Knight golden claws. The strongest female wolf ever recorded.” Ryan’s eyes filled with tears. He dropped to his knees beside me, pressing his lips to my bump. “My princess…” I laughed through my own tears. “Our little storm.” The Healer bowed again. “She will shift on her first full moon after birth. Mark my words, Empress—she will rule the world.” That evening, I decided it was time for Aarav to hear the news himself. I walked to the dungeons alone. Torches flickered. The air smelled of rust and regret. Aarav sat in the far cell, chains wrapped around him like a second skin. His once-muscular frame had thinned; the enchanted silver burned new marks into his flesh every hour. He looked up when my heels clicked on stone. “Empress…” His voice was barely a whisper. I stopped in front of the bars. Silver flames danced across my fingers. “I came to tell you something.” He tried to stand, but the chains yanked him back down. “Anything. Please.” I placed a hand on my belly. “It’s a girl.” His breath hitched. For a second, hope flashed in his eyes. I crushed it instantly. “She is Ryan’s daughter. Crimson Moon and Knight blood. She will never carry your name. She will never even know you existed.” His head dropped. A broken sound escaped his throat—half sob, half howl. I stepped closer. “You wanted a weak Luna. You got rid of me before I could give you an heir.” I let the flames crawl up my arms, lighting the cell in cold silver. “Now I’m giving the world a queen. And you will watch from chains.” He crawled forward on his knees, chains dragging. “Riya… I know I don’t deserve it… but let me see her. Just once. When she’s born. I’ll stay in the shadows. I swear.” I laughed—cold, sharp, final. “You will never be in the same room as my daughter. You will never breathe the same air. You lost that right the night you called me trash.” Tears streamed down his face. “I was wrong. I was so wrong. Every day I wake up and feel the bond screaming in my chest. It’s killing me, Riya.” “Good,” I said softly. “Let it kill you slowly.” I turned to leave. Behind me, his voice cracked. “I loved you. Even then. I was just too proud to admit it.” I paused at the door. Without looking back: “Love doesn’t banish. Love doesn’t humiliate. Love doesn’t leave someone to die in the woods.” I glanced over my shoulder. “You never loved me, Aarav. You loved the idea of a perfect Luna. And I was never that.” I walked out. The dungeon door slammed shut. That night, Ryan and I stood on the balcony watching the moon. He wrapped a blanket around my shoulders. “You okay, little flame?” I leaned back into his chest. “Better than okay.” I placed his hand on my bump. Our daughter kicked—hard. Ryan chuckled. “She’s already got your fire.” I smiled. “And your strength.” Far below, in the deepest cell, Aarav’s chains rattled one last time before silence fell. He would live a long life. Long enough to hear the entire world chant his daughter’s name— the daughter he would never touch, never see, never hold. And every cheer, every coronation song, every victory roar… would be another knife in his heart. The rejected omega had become the mother of the future. The Alpha who rejected her had become a ghost in his own story. And the Crimson Moon Empire? It was only just beginning to rise. To be continued… Drop a ❤️ if baby girl is about to rule the world!
