Chapter 4 Boiling Hot Down Below Seth had fallen on the last drop of his spud bar. It landed with the force of a pile driver in a natural crack. The slab of rock he was standing on was in the ceiling of the lava tube where he had been digging. The bar wedged into the crack and pushed the slab over just enough to loosen it from the edge of rock that had held it for past centuries. The slab turned out to be about four feet square and six inches thick, and it fell without warning. Ten feet later, Seth hit the bottom of the tube. Dust quickly filled the air and other smaller rock dropped out of the ceiling onto his back and legs.
