Concordia was reading to a listless Amelia in the girl’s bedroom when there was a knock on the door. “Come in!” she called. Concordia was well acquainted with the gentleman who walked in. He looked much the same as when they had said goodbye a few months ago. The same twinkling brown eyes, dimpled cheek, and black wavy hair that curled against the nape of his neck in just the way she remembered.
