Life I wake up in an unfamiliar place that smells of death and blood. Almost everything hurts, especially my hand. This rings a bell. I held a blade with my bare hand. How stupid can I be? My ankle is the second worse. It’s strange. I don’t even remember it hurting yesterday. I’m guessing I’m in the outlaws’ hut. I don’t have my clothes on, only two blankets. They cover everything, so it’s okay. I look around. Shadow is lying beside me on the next straw mattress. Hearing my movements he opens his eyes. My heart swells seeing his crooked smile.
