Locked up It’s late afternoon by the time we get back to the orphanage. Tom hands me over to Joel ceremoniously in front of multiple witnesses, whole and unharmed. He flirts a little with every female in the room, including the four-year-old Sheela who squeals in delight, then he leaves off. Since I haven’t done anything useful today, we go out after dinner with Joel and collect a few pouches. Late at night when we’re on our way back, I ask him to hold the goods and turn his back while I pee next to a wall. When he turns around, I jump over the wall and zig-zag through alleyways as fast as I can. When I’m pretty sure I’ve lost him I orient myself and head on towards the city watch headquarters.
