Chapter six - An eye for an eye 1

-DANE- I walked to the kitchen to get a tray then proceeded to go round the house. I'd done alot of mixtures to get the right doses and needed to clean. I cleared the cups, glasses and dishes I found lingering around the place, placing them on the tray and disposing what needed to be thrown. Literally what we call 'tidying'. Stopping at the start of the door to Tereese's room, I pulled my hand forward to knock but didn't. If she was asleep, then I won't want to wake her, but when it comes to female privacy.....I won't want to intrude either. After arguing with my mind on what to do, I sighed at a conclusion. I am going in. My fingers crept to the ball-like door knob and rolled it. The door went ajar slightly with a low squeak.I peaked my head in scanning the room, I don't want any awkwardness. She was still fast asleep. I sneaked in and cleared the earlier dishes and glass cup, dropping a bottle of water and a sand bucket, if she wanted to puke, not on my bedsheets, and food in a pack. Earlier, I fed her her last dose for the night and won't want her going hungry, though I'll be a room away. With a sigh, I freed my hands of the heavy tray to check her temperature. It was normal and she wasn't sweaty nor body hot. She seemed to be okay. What I won't want was for her getting cold, my hands drifted to hold the duvet and drew it to her shoulder. A swift flash of a memory played in my mind, just like old times. I stood and took the tray of the unwashed dishes, I'd made dinner and still need to clean. Rinsing the last dish, I turned the tap closed and wiped it dry with a towel before wiping my hands dry with another. Caring for another is harder than it seems. With a last brief run-through at the house, I headed to the stairs, my body sweaty and my white short sleeve shirt and black suit-like sweatpants stuck to my skin annoyingly. What a day to live in, I wiped off the sweat in my forehead with my palm and wiped my palm on my joggers. I needed a shower and rest. Funny how I am exhausted but angry yet calm. One meeting with the higher ups and they want to take down my acquaintance. Their thought of me being nothing without Tereese was something to laugh on. Maybe they needed to be reminded I am the moon's decendant, I have more power than her. She's just the warm up blockade before my unleash, especially with the stubborn moon. She won't let me use my powers to satisfaction if it meant harming her people I am meant to protect. Tereese was the only thing holding me from raging at them, she should recover then I'll have them to play with like dogs, maybe she'll love to have vengeance herself. I entered my room and took off my shirt immediately, showing my biceps and back muscles. Not to brag, but I am proud of my body improvement. The laundry basket was at the other end of the room and I walked to it then passed by my wall mirror and went back to admire the god-like handsomeness. God, I'm perfect. I thought with a flash of my white teeth at the mirror and a wink. Perfect reflexes, even the moon adores me. With satisfaction of my handsomely chiseled face, I walked to the laundry, took off my sweatpants and went in to the bathroom. My tummy did seem to be in perfect shape knowing I didn't need a pass to the toilet. Staring at the bathroom mirror, looking at the god-like hotter than the sun body it bore made me want to do something stupid. Something I was used to doing everyday when I was a teen - hold the shower head, mimicking a mic, turn on the shower, leaving water running while I sing and dance in front of the mirror, shaking my length. I loved how it went jiggly, left, right, down, up. How something soo soft cold be hard and pleasurable amazed my dumb mind then. Oh f**k being mature, I'm doing this! I sunk in the tub laughing. I cannot believe I just did that, though I didn't, but wanted to. For some reason, I think cooling my head off with a till-daybreak bath will be nice. But I dished the thought with my closing eyes. I need sleep. My body slumped on the bed giving it a creaking sound. My hand fell to the side end warily. Putting on my usual white short-sleeve shirt and grey sweatpants, I sunk in the matching white and striped grey duvet. My feets were sealed with grey socks. Tomorrow I will see the heads and warn them. They should know better than to hurt someone under my care. I don't go against my words, defy me and you pay. They surely have defied me, I see this town doesn't like Dane Evans at his best, they'll be likely to see my worst. Maybe I'll start with a little gift, to show my appreciation for Tereese. I shut my eyes to the end of the night and start of the day ahead. Goodness I love being Dane, I love being me. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I woke to the sound of my phone's chimer. I thinks it's either a message or a notification. I groaned stretching my hand to my phone, tilting my head up slightly to check what it was and checked the time. Six thirty am. f**k, I have a whole day ahead of me. With a tired sniff, I got up. I was preparing breakfast, the pan bubbled with a sound as the oil became hotter on the six burner gas cooker. I got hold of a wooden spatula and spun the meal. Tereese needs to eat something to take her medication this morning, maybe I should hire a house caretaker. I spunned the burner control knob to turn it off and served it in a plate beside her tea. Bread, scrambled eggs and bacon with water and her meds on a tray. I'll eat breakfast after feeding her. I hung my apron on the hook on the wall and set her breakfast on a tray before heading to her room. I knocked twice, "Tereese? Open the door, I have breakfast." No answer. I didn't bother knocking again, she could still be asleep. I went in cautious of the tray on my hand and dropped it on her bedtable. She wasn't sleeping. In fact, her bed is unlaid and empty. My body went stiff and I jerked my head to the side slightly at the sound of footsteps coming closer from behind. My instincts told me to react and the air, still pungent of the candle steam blocked my sense of smell. My body moved on its own accord to snap the neck as the bearer's hand touched my shoulder... "Hey! Morning Dane." I breath a sigh of relief. Her blaring breath in my nose showed she just brushed her teeth. She looks healthy already, partially, just better than yesterday. "Wooahoo! Easy there big man. Don't hurt yourself." She said stopping my hand halfway, I almost hit her unconsciously. Dumbass. Moving to the side, she saw the tray and smiled in a 'you didn't have to' look with gratitude. "Look who's doing chores." She blurted out instead and I frowned with a subtle chuckle, alright, real funny. Chores isn't me, but I have to do it to survive. I do need a house caretaker. "I wrote your dose on a piece of paper beneath the tea cup saucer. There's food in the kitchen and if you need anything, I'm a call away." I said and headed to the door. "Going somewhere?" "Yes," I took a short pause considering if I should tell her, then dished it immediately. "I have business to attend." I walked out and shut the door. Those people, will know the beginning of hell today. I was shocked by the change of mood. My mind hazily remembering all her encounters yesterday, marking the faces of the ones needed. I felt a grin mask on my face, Don't worry, I'll be nice.
