The Goddess's Cruel Irony

Cliff’s pov Who knew Chief’s plan would work? Going around to different brothels and joints finding different wolves that would be compatible with us both. I had given up entirely after the third year. No woman, be it an Alpha or Beta was compatible with us. We were destined to remain mateless, because being born a twin meant you already had a soul tie, according to the moon goddess law. But now, this skinny looking fragile omega was our mate? She was the one? I laughed at the thought. She was perfect. Small, pale, a little scared, but that’s the way I like them. When she arrived yesterday I half expected we’d play with her a little, but Chief insisted she rest. I scoffed. Since when was Chief so considerate? I guess the saying is true then, when you find your mate you suddenly become calmer. But not me….i wanted her now. “I can smell your pheromones all over the place Cliff, you need to relax.” Chief warned. “How are you so relaxed? We haven’t seen a mate who was compatible for both of us, and now you have you expect me to be calm? I want to be in her skin so bad! Rex is so impatient it’s like I’m going to burst!” “If you keep behaving like this, you’re going to scare her away. And we can’t have that, I need pups.” I rolled my eyes. “I need to feel her. Just this morning? Just a taste?” I begged. Chief sighed, already getting irritated by my voice. “There’s a process to all these things, we need to mark her as ours first.” He was always so uptight, so ‘I’ll go by the rules’, so strict, it was tiring. I needed a break and our little rabbit was that break. “Well, I’m just going to check on her, in case she died in her sleep.” Chief shot me a look of disapproval. So stiff. Rex laughed. When I got to the entrance of her door something felt strange. Her scent wasn’t as filing as it was supposed to be. I pushed open the door but it didn’t open. I proceeded to kick it down with my foot and the first thing I saw was an empty bed. Fuck. The window was wide open and the curtains moved with the wind. I looked out the window and I saw her running towards the woods. “f**k…!” I ran back downstairs. “Chief, chief, she just jumped out the window!” Before I got down he was already on the move, I followed right behind him. She was fast, but unluckily for her…we were faster. “Chief…” I warned. She was running too close to enemy territory and we had to catch up to her before she crossed. I couldn’t hold back anymore. The thought of her crossing that border and getting away from our grasp for good agitated me. So I shifted mid-jump. Rex had been waiting to rub on her with his fur. I jumped over chief and chased Lilac down. When I finally caught up to her I pounced on her and flipped her over. I growled in her face. “Where the f**k do you think you’re going!?” I yelled as I already shifted back. “I’m not staying here with any of you ... .you're insane!” She screamed. I pressed on her, dropping some of my weight. "Just because you hate us doesn't mean we can’t still have you, and it doesn’t mean you can refuse us.” “Let me go!” She squirmed around. “I’ll never be your mate…” Chief got down to our level and lifted her leg. He leaned closer to her, and placed his fingers on her lips and trailed it down her neck. She whimpered quietly. “You’re proving stubborn, but your body…” he licked her face slowly, “your body says otherwise.” I grinned. This would definitely make chief let us have her. “We own you now Lilac, whether you choose to believe it or not, and we don’t plan on letting go.” “You don’t know how much we’ve waited for you, Lilac.” Chief confessed. “What were those ideas you had in mind again, Cliff?” He turned to me. He had that mischievous and devilish look in his eyes. “Well now we have to punish her for trying to leave, right? How about we tie her up?” She tried to yell but I slapped my palm on her mouth. “Or we blindfold her?” She kept mumbling curses underneath my palm but I didn’t move it one bit. She was quiet for a while and then she bit me. “Arrgh” I let go of her mouth and rubbed my palm. “She bites!” Chief mocked. “Grab her, let’s go….” We heard noises from the bushes and Chief stopped talking. We both got into a defensive stance and Chief grabbed Lilac. We were almost in the opposite pack’s territory and if care wasn’t taken and we actually encountered members of the other pack lurking here; it could lead to an unwanted pack war. Just f*****g great. The noise kept getting closer. I drew out my claws, ready to tear anyone who dared to cross our borders apart, but as the person finally revealed themselves I felt disappointed. “What are you doing in the woods so early in the morning? Don’t tell me you’ve found another play thing?” “Brother!” I grinned. “What do you want?” Chief frowned, “I thought you were already re-mated? Why are you in our house?” “Is that a way to speak to your older brother?” He grumbled. “I just….” “Dantrey?” Lilac called from behind Chief. I stared at Lilac who was staring at Dantrey with so much hate in her eyes, and Dantrey stared right back, but with so much disbelief. It was silent for a few seconds before the confusion cleared and it clicked in my head. “Lilac was the mate you rejected for Janice?!” Dantrey didn’t respond. “Well, brother….” I grinned as I pulled Lilac to my side, “I guess we should be thanking you.” And then just to spite him even more, I kissed her. Hungrily.
