Ryan stormed into his room, the door slamming behind him. He paced back and forth, his mind racing with the conversation he just had with his parents. Disinherited? He didn't care about the money, but the pressure was suffocating. He fl threw himself onto his bed, staring at the ceiling.
His phone buzzed again. Aisha: "Hey, everything okay? You seemed a bit off 😊"
Ryan sighed, feeling a bit better. He dialed her number, and she answered on the first ring. "Hey, what's going on?" she asked, her voice full of concern.
Ryan poured out the whole story, from the argument with his parents to the ultimatum. Aisha listened attentively, making supportive noises as he vented.
"I don't know what to do, Aisha," Ryan said, feeling frustrated. "They're not listening to me."
Aisha's voice was calm. "You need to do what's best for you, Ryan. Have you thought about what you really want to do?"
Ryan paused, thinking. "I want to travel, maybe do something with photography. I've always loved capturing moments."
Aisha squealed. "That's amazing! You'd be incredible at it."
Ryan smiled, feeling a spark of excitement. "Yeah, but my parents would flip."
They talked for hours, discussing possibilities and what-ifs. Ryan felt like a weight was lifting off his shoulders. Aisha was the first person who truly understood him.
As they talked, Ryan realized he had a choice. He could follow his heart or stick to his parents' plan. The thought sent a shiver down his spine.
The next morning, Ryan woke up feeling determined. He got dressed and headed downstairs, ready to face his parents. The breakfast table was tense, but Ryan broke the silence.
"Mom, Dad, I've been thinking. I'm going to explore other options. I'll figure things out, but I'm not taking over the company."
His parents looked shocked, but Ryan continued. "I'll find a way to support myself if it comes to it."
Mr. Thompson's face turned red. "You're making a huge mistake, Ryan."
Mrs. Thompson shook her head. "Think about the family."
Ryan stood firm. "I'm thinking about me. I need to do this."
The room fell silent. Ryan took a deep breath and walked out, feeling a sense of freedom he hadn't felt in years.
He met Aisha at the park, and they sat on a bench, watching the sunrise.
"I'm scared," Ryan admitted.
Aisha smiled. "You're brave, Ryan. You'll figure it out."
As they talked, Ryan knew he'd made the right decision. He had Aisha, and together, they'd face whatever came next.
The sun rose higher, casting a warm glow over Lagos. Ryan felt hopeful, like anything was possible.
