His words left me still. I didn’t know what to say, or if I should say anything at all. The apartment felt too small with him standing so close to me while his hand still brushing mine as if he was afraid I would disappear if he let go. “I don’t want us to fight anymore,” he said finally, his tone softer now. “I’m staying here tonight.” My eyes widened. “What?” “I’m not leaving you like this. Not after what just happened. If you want me to, I’ll take the guest room. But I’m not walking out that door.” I pressed my lips together, unsure if I had the strength to argue. A part of me wanted him gone, but another part of me betrayed me with how it ached every time he wasn’t around and I couldn’t bring myself to push him away. “Fine,” I muttered, though my voice came out weaker than I want
